Officers noticed the suspect had an injury on the right side of his forehead. When the suspect was asked how he obtained the injury and was unable to give a clear answer. The officers requested an ambulance to assess suspect’s injury. Officers then asked for some identification and the suspect provided them verbally; however, he was unable to provide information about his current residence. The officers then conducted a computer check with the suspect’s name and discovered he had no bail parole warrant for his arrest. It was determined that he needed to be taken to the hospital for further assessment. 3:39pm       600 blk Andover           Arson Arrest
Officers Hauscarriague and Pederson were requested to respond to assist Insp. Levine of the Arson Task Force on a search warrant. The warrant stemmed from a fire that started in one house, then engulfed neighboring homes. At the original scene the alleged victims of where the fire started told officers that they were boiling something in the yard and that the extension cords over heated and caught on fire.
The officers became suspicious and notified the arson inspectors.  Arson investigators were able to find evidence that the reason for the fire was the illegal production of hashish. Two suspects were taken into custody and numerous bags of drugs and drug indicia were confiscated.
The suspects were booked at Ingleside Station for the drugs and the illegal lab setup that caused several homes to burn. Thanks to the alert and keen observation skills of the original officers, two suspects that had set up an illegal drug lab have been sent to jail. Although there were injuries, none of them were life threatening. Report number 120861118. This is why this is the ***Best Arrest of the Day***

5:59am       900 Blk San Jose           DUI  Arrest
Officers Pereira and Etcheveste responded to the intersection of San Jose and Randall Street on a call of a person sleeping inside his vehicle which was parked on the Muni tracks. As they arrived on scene, they noticed a Red Mustang stopped in the middle of the road with its headlights on. Medics were already on scene and told the officers that they were unable to wake up the driver or either of the two passengers. The officers noticed that the vehicle was still on, and in drive. Officer Pereira reached into the vehicle, over the sleeping driver, and placed the car in park. The officers then removed the driver and the two passengers from the vehicle. Officer Pereira could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. The driver also had blood shot eyes and spoke with a slight slur. Officer Pereira then conducted a field sobriety test, which the driver failed. 1:40pm       1 BLK Leland               Fraud Arrest
Officers Fung, Trujillo, Sugitan and Ferretti detained a suspect who was involved in multiple accounts of fraud.  The suspect was caught depositing a $4500 cash advance check when the bank teller noticed that something sounded fishy. The teller though that it was weird that the suspect had a newly opened account and tried to deposit a $4500 check into it, while withdrawing a large amount of it. The teller called the owner of the check to make sure that he endorsed the check to the suspect, the owner said that he did not endorse it, and that the check had been stolen. The teller then called the police. Officers Pereira and Fung then arrived and were briefed by the teller. The officers then spoke to the suspect to hear his side of the story. The suspect claimed that he had received the check after doing painting work for the owner of the check. The suspect was then arrested for the fraud, transported to Ingleside station. The officers called the owner of the check back to verify that indeed the checks had been stolen. This was confirmed by the owner of the checks. Further, the owner told the officers that in July of this year, his home in Oakland had been burglarized, and believes that this man must have stolen that check during the burglary. The suspect upon hearing this allegation immediately asked for his lawyer, thus stopping officer Fung and Sugitan from further investigating.

Thanks to the efforts of the bank teller, with her quick thinking and senses, helped to bring this suspect to justice. She saved a man $4500 and possibly helped solve a burglary case that was reported back in July. Her heroic efforts to actually take the initiative to call the police should be commended. And today, officers at Ingleside station thank this teller for her assistance in catching this felon. Report Number 120845756.  That is why this, is the ***Best Arrest of the Day***

The officers believed the suspects were casing for unsuspecting people who were at the bus stop and looked preoccupied. The officers now began to counter-surveil the suspects who stood near the bus stop as several busses came and left. The officers decided to approach the two suspects and asked them what they were doing. One of the suspects replied they were waiting for a bus. The officers quickly informed the suspect that they watched as several busses passed by without them getting on. A record check indicated that one of the suspects was on probation for… robbery! For public safety the officers decided to do a weapons search.  As Officer Lim to search the suspect, he felt the handle of an object protruding from his waistband. When the officer went in to check, he discovered a concealed knife, a felony in California. The suspect was arrested, transported and booked at Ingleside Station along with the knife. Report Number 120840267.

Because of the attention to detail that these officers exhibited on these two would be criminals, a knife was confiscated, two suspect was taken to jail, and the citizens of Ingleside can rest a little bit easier knowing that two more criminals are in jail. And that is why, this is the ***Best Arrest of the day***

4:08am       900 blk Geneva             Burglary Arrest
Officers Lozano and McCall responded to the 900 block of Geneva Avenue on a call of a burglary in progress. A witness/passerby saw two suspects using a pick axe trying to break into a jewelry store. As the officers arrived, they saw what appeared to be a hand-held flashlight beam coming from inside the darkened and closed business. The officers exited their patrol car to further investigate.
