A
homeowner, in his first floor bedroom, heard loud noises coming from the front
of the house. He went to his closed bedroom door and listened for three minutes
to the unusual noises coming from the front of his home. He didn’t call police.
Instead, he opened the door and found three masked and gloved suspects, one
holding a hammer and another holding a crowbar, standing near the stairs to the
second floor. When the suspects saw the homeowner, they ran and grabbed him by
the neck dragging him through the home while they ransacked each room looking
for valuables. The victim told the officers the suspects several times made
threatening statements including to kill him with the crowbar and hitting him
in the stomach with the hammer. At one point, each of the suspects strangled
him with their hands almost to the point of losing consciousness. One of the suspects kicked him in the right
hip. Finally the three suspects ran out of the home and got into an older car,
with paper plates that sped away. The victim then ran to a neighbor’s home to
call police. Ingleside Officers Mora, Fitzpatrick, Williams, and Camarra
arrived shortly thereafter and secured the home. They determined the front gate
and door had been pried open and they also recovered the hammer used in the
attack. They canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and video surveillance
cameras which revealed some important evidence. Paramedics treated the victim
at the scene for his injuries. Report number: 170828285
