A woman heard a commotion outside and called police after seeing a group of girls assaulting another young woman. Ingleside officers Wise and Wells responded and found the girl with injuries to her face. She told the officers that two girls she knew from school attacked her while she was sitting on the steps between Bessie and Mirabel Streets. The two suspects took her backpack containing cash and a cellphone before escaping. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Ingleside officers Mora and Naser responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Sunnydale and Hahn. Several officers also responded to assist.  The officers found several weapon rounds in the street along with bullet holes in a window and door of a nearby residence. They also found a blood trail from outside a residence that appeared to lead inside the premise. The officers went into the home and found blood throughout the living room, bullet casings on the floor, and a black semi-automatic pistol on the backrest near the couch. There were no victims in the home. A witness told the officers that a suspect exited a vehicle and started firing. After the gunshots stopped, the witness noticed a man with gunshot wounds to the chest. The vehicle sped away. Soon thereafter, antoher vehicle arrived at San Francisco General Hospital with a man suffering from two gunshot wounds to his chest and one to his left hand. He was rushed into the emergency room while the Sheriff’s deputy detained the other occupants of the car. Ingleside officers Wise and Wells traveled to the Hospital and established a crime scene around the vehicle, which had gunfire damage to the windshield, front passenger, and rear windows. The wounded occupant refused to talk to the officers about how he was wounded. He was treated by physicians for his wounds and is listed in stable condition. Report number: 170522158

Ingleside officers Hermosura, Dedet, and Dilag were dispatched to a report of a man breaking into a parked truck. They arrived on scene and found the suspect still inside the vehicle. He told the officers that he was just looking for a place to sleep and found the truck unlocked. A computer check revealed the suspect had several juvenile warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center. Report number: 170516333

Ingleside officers Tiffer and Taft were on routine patrol when they spotted a silver Acura drive through a stop sign at Baden and Monterey without stopping. The officers followed the Acura for a short distance and activated their emergency lights at Monterey and Circular. The Acura’s driver pulled over and stopped. A passenger exited the car and started running away. The driver immediately took off at a high rate of speed. Tiffer and Taft quickly detained the passenger after a short chase. They also radioed dispatch about the fleeing driver. The passenger was cited for evading police and released at the scene.  Ingleside Officer Leong traveled to the address of the Acura’s registered owner but did not find the vehicle. The owner of a vehicle who rented it out on a “peer-to-peer” site called police to report it stolen. He also told dispatch he was monitoring the location of the car through the internet. With his help, Ingleside officers Stoffel and Colclough tracked the car to Athens and Persia and called for backup. Soon officers Dedet and Ortega arrived to assist with the arrest. Inside the officers found four juveniles. The driver was arrested for auto theft and taken to the Juvenile Justice Center for booking. The three passengers were released to their parents. A cab driver was sitting in his car parked when he was suddenly approached by a suspect. The suspect pulled out a firearm, saying, “You’re a cab driver. You’ve got money. Give me your money or I’ll shoot you”. The cab driver responded saying, “Well, you’re going to have to shoot me because I don’t have any money.” The suspect then reached into the cab and took the driver’s cell phone and walked away a short distance before turning around and firing a shot into one of the rear tires of the cab. Ingleside officers Salazar and Dedet responded and broadcast a description of the robber. Report number: 170513022

A woman walked into Ingleside Station with her son and told Ingleside Officer Tiffer that she had been robbed a short time before. She said she was riding the #8 Muni bus when it stopped at the 2200 block of Bayshore Blvd.  The suspect, also a passenger on the bus, walked toward the exit and grabbed the victim’s backpack.  The suspect fled off the bus. The victim attempted to chase the suspect but fortunately stopped as the suspect ran northbound on Bayshore. The loss was the backpack, containing a cellphone, house keys, and bank cards. A woman walking down the street noticed another woman walking toward her carrying sandals in her hands. The victim told Ingleside officers Paras, Washington, and Zubko that the barefoot woman suddenly hit her with a sandal. When the victim asked the suspect why she hit her, instead of answering, the suspect raised a bottle over her head and threatened the victim again. Medical help was summoned to the scene and the victim was treated for bruises and neck pain. Meanwhile, the suspect fled westbound on Geneva and was detained in the middle of the street by officer Paras. The victim was brought to the scene and identified the suspect as the one who assaulted her. She signed a citizen’s arrest form and the suspect was cited for assault and released. Ingleside officers Govindbhai and Zandanel were dispatched to meet Ingleside Sgt. Martin at Cesar Chavez and Vermont Street. Sgt. Martin told the officers that he was flagged down by a citizen regarding a stolen bicycle.  The victim told Sgt. Martin that he spotted a suspect riding a bicycle that had been stolen from him.  It was one of four bicycles taken during a burglary. The officers confronted the suspect who told them he got it from someone at 24th and Mission. He was taken to Ingleside Station where the victim declined to sign a citizen’s arrest form for the arrest. The suspect was released but luckily, the victim was able to recover his stolen bicycle. Ingleside officer Fegan was patrolling an area of the district where thieves dump stolen cars. He noticed a parked older Honda Accord with no front license plate. He also noticed the windows were fogged up showing there was probably someone inside. Fegan called for assistance and Ingleside officers Dedet, Young, Hermosura, and Sgt. Hoang arrived on scene. The officers asked the driver to exit and he complied. A woman companion asleep in the backseat was awakened and also removed from the vehicle. A computer check revealed the driver was on felony probation. His female companion was also on felony probation and had an arrest warrant for burglary. Officer Fegan asked the driver for the key to the car. He said he didn’t have one but his female companion had the key. She said she didn’t have the key but another passenger hiding in a nearby bush had the key. They located a third subject, who didn’t have the key, but was also on felony probation.  The woman passenger was arrested for the warrant and transported to Ingleside Station. A Toyota Camry, with expired registration caught the attention of Ingleside officers Ocreto and Washington. The officers activated their forward pointing emergency lights and pulled the car over. The driver said he didn’t have the license with him and as far as the vehicle’s registration, he told the officers he “was working on that”. A computer check revealed that his license was suspended and he had two active warrants for his arrest. He was transported to Ingleside Station and booked for the active warrants. Witnesses called police after seeing a woman park her car and then toss her older white dog out into the street where the dog was almost struck by several passing cars. Ingleside officers Washington and Ocreto arrived and talked to several witnesses who said the dog appeared scared while avoiding passing vehicles. They were able to corral the dog and bring him to safety on the sidewalk. The dog’s female owner then approached the group, grabbed hold of the dog and placed him back into the car. Before speeding away, the suspect told the crowd of good Samaritans that she lets him out all the time and he always comes back to the car. Report number: #170511662

A dispute between two bar patrons with a history of problems between them escalated into a violent fight with one of the combatants suffering a serious injury. Ingleside officers Tom and Calupad arrived to find one of the combatants with a chair chasing the other combatant down Mission Street. The one without the chair had a serious head wound. He was taken to San Francisco General for treatment of his injuries while the suspect was arrested and transported to Ingleside Station for booking. Report number: 170509786

Dispatch sent Ingleside officer Morrow to investigate a home burglar alarm. When the officer arrived he quickly knew this was not a mistaken alarm. Out in front of the home was a parked Lexus with no front license plate. One door was open and a he saw a suspect sprinting away down Theresa toward Cayuga Street. Officer Morrow quickly called for assistance. The owner of the home was beckoning officer Morrow to enter his home but officer Morrow, for everyone’s safety, waited less than a minute until Ingleside officers Felix, Glover, Trujillo, Phillips, Thompson, Hornstein, Leung, and Kerlegan arrived on scene. Officers Morrow, Phillips, Trujillo, and Kerlegan entered the home and found several rooms ransacked with cash, jewelry, electronics, and other valuables missing, but no suspects. They also discovered a blue pry bar that was used to force open the front door and gain entrance to the home. The officers determined that other suspects exited the home through the backyard, damaging a fence, and forcing open the rear door of a home on the 200 block of Cotter. Ultimately, one suspect was found by officer Williams hiding under a stairway and arrested. Another suspect grabbed a ladder and climbed onto the roof of the same home. He was found and arrested by Sgt. Lau and Officers Tiffer and Zubko. The officers recovered several items stolen from the home on the suspects and inside the getaway car parked outside. They also recovered items stolen from a previous burglary of a home on the 100 block of University Street.  The two suspects were transported to Ingleside Station and booked for burglary and possession of stolen property. A man woke in the morning and noticed the front door to his home was open. He called police and Ingleside officers Gomez and Tiffer arrived to investigate. The victim said that two bicycles and unknown items from a dresser drawer were missing. The officers determined the thief entered and exited the home through the front door sometime between 8:30pm the previous night and 7:00am the next morning. Report number: 170504930

Traffic Safety Enforcement Operations Plan for
San Francisco with OTS Grant

The San Francisco Police Department will conduct Traffic Safety Enforcement Operations on June 1st, 9th, 12th, 20th and 27th with a focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety. Over the past three years, the department has identified areas where significant numbers of pedestrian and bicycle-related collisions have occurred and responded by deploying additional officers to those areas in an effort to prevent deaths and injuries. Special attention will be given to Focus on the Five violations: excessive and unsafe speed, unsafe turns, failure to stop for signs and signals, failure to yield to pedestrians in cross walks, as well as any other dangerous violation.

San Francisco is committed to eliminating traffic deaths on our streets by 2024 as part of Vision Zero SF. Vision Zero SF is our city’s commitment to prioritize safe streets for everyone.

Bicycle and pedestrian fatalities are rising in California as more people use these non-motorized means of transportation. In 2013, California witnessed 701 pedestrians and 141 bicyclists killed, accounting for more than 28 percent of all traffic fatalities.

All riders are reminded to always wear a helmet – those under 18 years of age must wear helmets by law. Pedestrians should cross the street only in marked or unmarked crosswalks at corners. All motorists are reminded to be mindful of others who share the road.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

A car owner called police after spotting his vehicle that was stolen earlier in the day. The owner told Ingleside officers Mora and Naser that he found the Honda Pilot in a parking near at Sunnydale and Santos. He said his home security system had video of the thieves and the car they drove. Mora and Naser, followed by the victim, started driving to the parking lot to retrieve the vehicle. While enroute the victim alerted the officers that the suspect’s car was driving ahead of them. The officers pulled the vehicle over and questioned the two men who are brothers. A computer check revealed the driver was wanted on two felony warrants from a San Francisco court. He was arrested and taken to Ingleside Station for booking. Report number: 170502376

A call of a fight involving juveniles prompted dispatch to send Ingleside officers Hornstein and Zubko to investigate. When they arrived on scene they discovered it wasn’t a fight but a robbery. The 17 year old victim told the officers that a group of students surrounded her, hit her several times in the head, and took her cell phone. The suspects escaped by boarding an inbound #14 Muni bus. An ambulance arrived which transported the victim to San Francisco General for treatment. Report number: 170502520

A bicyclist, looking at his cell phone in one hand, rode through a stop sign almost colliding with Ingleside officers Leong and Vong. The officers activated their emergency lights and pulled the cyclist over a short distance away. He refused to give the officers any identification until the officers told him that, without identification, they would have to take him back to Ingleside Station. With that in mind, he decided to cooperate and reached into his backpack, grabbed his wallet and a money clip, and threw both at Officer Vong striking him in the chest. The officers cited the bicyclist for the stop sign violation and battery on a police officer, and released him at the scene. Report number: 170498957

Two teenage girls, walking on the bridge over Highway #280, were approached by unknown man. The victims told Ingleside officer Wells and Hoge that the suspect exchanged small talk with the two women before suddenly punching one of them in the hip.  The suspect grabbed the victim’s iPhone out of her pocket. The suspect then escaped North on San Jose toward the Balboa Park BART Station. The officers gave the victims a ride to their homes and summoned medical help to treat the one victim’s injury. Traffic Safety Enforcement Operations Plan for
San Francisco with OTS Grant

The San Francisco Police Department will conduct Traffic Safety Enforcement Operations on June 1st, 9th, 12th, 20th and 27th with a focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety. Over the past three years, the department has identified areas where significant numbers of pedestrian and bicycle-related collisions have occurred and responded by deploying additional officers to those areas in an effort to prevent deaths and injuries. Special attention will be given to Focus on the Five violations: excessive and unsafe speed, unsafe turns, failure to stop for signs and signals, failure to yield to pedestrians in cross walks, as well as any other dangerous violation.

San Francisco is committed to eliminating traffic deaths on our streets by 2024 as part of Vision Zero SF. Vision Zero SF is our city’s commitment to prioritize safe streets for everyone.

Bicycle and pedestrian fatalities are rising in California as more people use these non-motorized means of transportation. In 2013, California witnessed 701 pedestrians and 141 bicyclists killed, accounting for more than 28 percent of all traffic fatalities.

All riders are reminded to always wear a helmet – those under 18 years of age must wear helmets by law. Pedestrians should cross the street only in marked or unmarked crosswalks at corners. All motorists are reminded to be mindful of others who share the road.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

A Father’s Day celebration turned violent when the wife of a patron came into the bar with another man. Both inebriated men began arguing and then pushing and punching before police were called. Ingleside officers Hoge, Siracusa, and Wise responded.  After interviewing the combatants and witnesses each man received a citation for misdemeanor battery. Report number: 170497294

Ingleside officers Dominguez, Dedet, and Cagney were dispatched to a call of gunshots in the area. The officers found three bullet casings in the street but no suspects or weapons. The officers searched the area for victims or property damage but found nothing. Report number: 170495470

A salon customer walked out of the business without paying. The cashier followed the customer while using his cellphone to take pictures of her. The victim told Ingleside officers Leong and Vong that the customer turned around and pepper sprayed the cashier.  The cashier quickly ran back to the salon to treat his injuries. A man walked into Ingleside Station claiming he was assaulted by an unknown assailant in the Safeway Parking Lot. He told Ingleside officer Glover he was walking back to his car when a woman, pushing a shopping cart, walked up and said “I know you”. Puzzled, the victim didn’t respond until the woman took out a stick and hit him several times in the head and face. He then went to Ingleside Station to report the incident. Officer Glover offered to summon medical assistance but the victim declined the offer. Report number: 170496086
