Customers have been directed to make payment at various drug stores in San Francisco. The suspects sometimes use a device that “spoofs” caller ID devices to display the SFPUC customer service phone number. These calls are not coming from the SFPUC and at no time does the agency direct customers to pay water bills in person anywhere other than authorized payment locations. For a list of authorized payment locations, click here: http://www.sfwater.org/index.aspx?page=48The public is cautioned to be wary of such calls and are advised to contact the SFPUC if they have questions regarding their water bill and service. The SFPUC Customer Service Line is (415) 551-3000.Any SFPUC customers who have received such phone calls may file a suspicious occurrence report at any SFPD district station. Anyone who has been victimized by this scam should file a fraud report with the SFPD. For a list of district police stations, click here: http://sanfranciscopolice.org/police-district-maps
Arrests:2:05am 1000 Block Portola StalkingA woman called dispatch to report a man was trying to break into her home. The woman said the suspect was the same person who had tried to break into her home on two previous occasions. In the first case, he broke a side window and entered her home. The victim ran down the street to the fire station and called police. Two days later the suspect was back at her home pounding on the front door and shouting “this is my home”. The victim again called police and the suspect was arrested for trespassing and for a continuous offense. On this morning, the victim said the suspect was pounding on her front door and shouting to get in. Ingleside Officers Hermosura, Trumpp, Cortez, Anderson, Hackard, Dedet, Burke, and Sgt. Bodisco arrived on scene and searched the area for the suspect. He was later spotted walking on Bosworth near Chilton by officers and arrested. He was taken to Ingleside Station and charged with Stalking and elder abuse. Report number: 1708234178:21am 100 Blk. Appleton FirearmIngleside Officer Fitzpatrick, Sgt. Kumli and several other Ingleside units were dispatched to a report of a shooting. When they arrived on scene they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment. The victim’s wife was inside the home crying and upset and putting several items inside a backpack. She initially told the officers that three unknown men had shot her husband and escaped. However, after officers interviewed the woman and inspected the backpack, which contained three firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, and quantities of cocaine, she admitted she made up the previous story. She was also a convicted felon who was not allowed to have firearms. Consequently she was booked at Ingleside Station for being a felon possessing firearms along with possession of narcotics. Ingleside Officers Williams and Sgt. Martin arrived soon thereafter, and the observant witness pointed out the suspect as she was walking away. She was placed in custody and told the officers she entered the home to “turn off the lasers” and to “remove the dark aura” around the home. She was taken to the County Jail where a medical examination determined she was severely mentally disabled. She was transported to San Francisco General Hospital and held for treatment. She was also charged with burglary and vandalism dependent upon her release. The home owner found several things disturbed in his home and some minor damage, but nothing stolen.
