Arrests:

11:32am     Persia & Naples                      Stolen Vehicle
Ingleside Officers Dungca and Calupad were on routine patrol when they found themselves following an older Toyota Avalon driving east on Persia Street near Naples. A records check revealed the Toyota was reported stolen the day before from a nearby address. The officers radioed for assistance and pulled the driver over in the 500 block of Persia. The driver was easily placed in handcuffs. The suspect stopped the vehicle right near the address where it was reported stolen. The officers contacted the owner who told Dungca and Calupad that the suspect was his stepson who had stolen his car before. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station where the investigation was passed to the Station’s investigative team. Inspectors interviewed the owner (step father) and the stepson (thief). The stepfather agreed to drop the charges if the son agreed to attend therapy sessions. The stepson was released. Report number: 170767401

6:55pm       Mayflower & Carver             Stolen Vehicle
The same two officers who made the above arrest, Dungca and Calupad, again found themselves following a stolen vehicle. They were patrolling the area near Bernal Heights Blvd. when they pulled in behind a 1997 Honda Accord that was reported stolen. The officers followed the car for a short distance while radioing for backup and pulled the driver over near Mayflower and Carver Streets. The driver was ordered out of the car and handcuffed. A records check revealed he was clean of any criminal convictions. However he was unlicensed. He also had some interesting items in his pockets, two California Driver’s licenses with different names and not his. He also had mail belonging to unknown recipients. He was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for car theft and the mail and driver’s licenses were secured as possible evidence of additional crimes. Report number: 170768960

Serious Incidents:

1:55am       300 Blk. Harvard                     Fire
Ingleside Officers Hermosura and Dilag were dispatched to a report of a fire. When they arrived they found flames and smoke emanating from the second floor and firefighters from San Francisco Fire Department Engine 43 on scene. The officers asked for assistance and Ingleside Officers Zhao and Fogarty arrived soon thereafter. Two occupants told Officer Cho that they were awakened from sleep in their downstairs bedroom by the smell of smoke. The called dispatch and told arriving firefighters that there may be additional people trapped upstairs in the flames. Two people who lived upstairs escaped from the home a short time later but another unconscious resident was removed by firefighters and transported to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition. SFFD arson investigators preliminarily reported that the blaze may have had an electrical cause. The upstairs portion of the home sustained substantial damage from the flames and smoke. The Red Cross was summoned and it provided shelter for three of the occupants. Report number: 170767536

8:58pm       600 Blk. Ellsworth                  Firearm
You’ve probably seen countless news reports and even movie scenes where someone or a group of people celebrate some event by firing guns into the air. It’s as if the celebrants think the bullets continue to Mars and never return to earth. Well, on this day, one returned to earth and crashed through the skylight of a home, through a wall, and rolled down a stairway fortunately missing all occupants. Ingleside Station Officers Mroz and Espinoza recovered the 45 caliber bullet and took it back to the station to be kept as evidence. Report number: 170769968
