Serious Incidents:

10:09am     2100 Blk Sunnydale               Aggravated Assault
A police officers job is to look for trouble before it happens. That’s primarily what crime prevention is all about. But sometimes trouble finds the police officers. That’s exactly what happened this morning when two off-duty police officers, along with a retired police lieutenant were playing soccer at Crocker-Amazon Playground. The officers heard gunshots and ran to investigate. What they found was a car, with several bullet holes, lying on its side, down an embankment off of Sunnydale Ave. The driver and his two passengers were out of the car and had suffered minor injuries. Ingleside Officers Wong, Phillips, Ortega, Thompson, Campos, along with Sergeants Springer, Jackson, Griffin, and Lt. Gillmore arrived on scene and questioned the driver. He told the officer that he was driving to football practice at City College when he saw a white car stopped on the side of the road with two men standing near it. As he approached the car the two men started firing weapons at his vehicle hitting it several times in the bumper and front windows. The driver attempted to make a U-turn to escape the gunshots and, during the maneuver, lost control of his car hitting the center divider and careening off the road and down the embankment. The description of the white car matched the description of an earlier shooting in the same neighborhood several days earlier. The case has been assigned to the Ingleside Station Investigative Team. Report number: 150766382

11:03pm     800 Blk Naples                       Robbery
A woman walking home was suddenly confronted by two robbers, who forcibly took her possessions. The victim told Ingleside Officers Hermosura and Wong that two men ran up behind her and grabbed her purse. The victim struggled to hold on to her purse while screaming “help”. One of the suspects then punched the victim in her face. The struggle continued until the purse’s strap broke and the men ran away in an unknown direction. The loss was a large amount of cash, credit cards, driver’s license, keys, and cosmetics. The keys and cosmetic bag was recovered nearby. A search of the neighborhood by numerous Ingleside units failed to find the suspects. Report number: 150768645
