1:45pm Ocean/Lee Fraud
A victim told Officer Morgante that he was sitting inside a local restaurant when he was approached by an unknown suspect who introduced himself and engaged him in conversation. During the conversation the suspect said he was locked out of his home and asked for the victim’s help to get a locksmith. The suspect went on to say that he’s been a supervisor with the MTA for the last 25 years and that he could get the victim a job. The victim said he was looking for a job and was interested. The suspect asked the victim for a small amount of money and said he would talk to him the next day. The victim agreed and gave the suspect some money. The next day the suspect called the victim and told him he lined up a position for him and needed a larger amount of money for the union dues. Excited about getting a job the victim proceeded to give the suspect the money for the union dues. Another day after that, the suspect called the victim asking for more money. The victim at this point was suspicious and decided to do some of his own investigating and Googled the suspect. Turns out the suspect gave his real name and has been arrested before for running the same scam. The victim went straight to the police to report the fraud. With the help of Inspector Gasanyan and several Ingleside Officers they arranged to meet the suspect where they quickly nabbed him before he knew what was going on. The suspect was charged accordingly and booked. Report Number: 130630898.
2:40pm 3300 Blk Mission Robbery
Officers Cross and Goldsborough went to a robbery call at an establishment on the 3300 block of Mission Street. The witnesses, who are loss prevention officers, said they observed a familiar suspect walking through the store. The witnesses told the officers that this person has been caught stealing from the store before and was told never to return. Well today, they kept an eye on her as she made her way to the deli aisle and liquor aisle. She then picked out a Vodka liquor bottle and a sushi tray and walked out of the store making no attempt to pay for the items. The witnesses went to confront her, but her male accomplice, who had a visible knife in his back pocket, verbally threatened both witnesses before walking away. Officer Cross looked at the surveillance tape and put out a description. Several Ingleside Officers searched the area to no avail. Hours later, Officers responded to an unrelated call on the 3100 block of Mission Street involving the same two suspects. The suspects were identified and charged with the robbery and threats. Report Number: 130631169.
