ALERT: There has been an increase in auto boosts in the area of O’Shaughnessy and Bosworth. The break ins are occurring around the hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm. Please report any suspicious activity to the police. Do not leave valuables in your cars.
Recently, a flyer was distributed to the community regarding scams targeting the monolingual Chinese. These scams involve telling the victim that an evil spirit is following them. They will ask the victim to bring valuables to pray over as an offering to the spirit. They will return to the victim what is believed to be their valuables. They will ask the victim not to look at their valuables for a day. When the victim later checks their valuables, they find that the valuables were not returned by the suspects.
We urge all person(s) confronted with this scam to call 911 as this is a crime in progress. By contacting 911, you greatly increase the chance of catching the suspect(s) so that the police can make an arrest. If someone approaches you with this scam, decline their help, call 911 immediately and report it to the police. Be a good witness. Obtain a description of the suspect(s) and/or vehicles they are driving.

CRIME ALERT: An increase of robberies and thefts has been occurring in and around the Balboa BART Station and City College area. There have been five robberies in the last couple weeks alone in this area. Be vigilant of your surroundings and follow the safety tips below.

2:40pm Alemany/San Juan Burglary
A woman walking back to her car after visiting her bank saw a man in the front seat of her car rummaging through the car’s contents. When she approached her car and confronted the suspect, he ran away. The victim got back in her car, and while calling police, followed the suspect as he ran down Alemany Boulevard. Ingleside Officer Fung, along with several other units, caught up with the suspect and arrested him a few blocks away from the bank. A search of the suspect turned up breath mints stolen from the victim’s glove box. The suspect also had a methamphetamine pipe in one of his other pockets. He was taken to Ingleside Station and booked on burglary, possession of stolen property and other charges. Report number: 130634373
4:33pm Unit Blk Bellevue Narcotics
An alert citizen called police saying there were suspicious people in a parked car near his home passing a pipe among them. Ingleside Officers Paras and Busalacchi were first on the scene and found three men inside the car with a strong odor of Marijuana. When asked what they were doing, the driver said, “My car ran out of gas”. Joined by Officer Guzman and Kilgariff, the officers asked all occupants to step out of the vehicle to be searched. Officer Kilgariff found a glass pipe with brown residue on one suspect and Marijuana on another. A search of the car turned up additional glass pipes and additional narcotic paraphernalia. The officers found a knife on the sidewalk near where the occupants were searched. All the suspects were taken to Ingleside station where one was released, the other cited and the third booked for a narcotics violation. Case number: 130634975

Officers Wong and Morrow responded to a report of a theft at a business. The victim told the officers he fell asleep and when he awoke, he noticed his bag and wallet were missing. He discovered his bag during a search of the business, but his wallet was not inside. Case number: 130633648
6:06pm 700 Blk Ocean Robbery
A woman on a Muni bus called police after her cell phone was stolen. The victim told officers Suguitan and Chicas that she was sitting near one of the exits, looking down at her phone, when a man ran by her and snatched the phone from her hand, and quickly got off the bus and ran away. The victim told officers her cell phone did not have tracking software. Several Ingleside units searched the area for the suspect but did not find him. Case number: 130635105
