The pair watched as the driver veered across and back the double yellow lines and quickly activated their patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren. The driver yielded to the officers requests near the intersection of San Jose and Santa Ynez. Officer Mroz asked the motorist for his license, insurance and registration. The driver, who smelled of liquor and had bloodshot eyes, instead gave Mroz a cell phone advertisement. The suspect admitted to having a consumed a couple of shots of brandy at a hotel near Geneva and Bayshore. He failed a field sobriety test and a breath alcohol assessment revealed an alcohol level three times the legal limit. The suspect was transported to Mission Station where a phlebotomist took blood samples. He was then transferred to the county jail and booked for DUI.
