Arrests:
9:13am San
Jose & Santa Ynez
D.U.I
A speeding 31 year old Volkswagen van (suspicious in its own
right), careening in and out of lanes on San Jose Avenue, easily caught the
attention of Ingleside Officers Lujan
and Mroz. The pair watched as the driver veered across and back the double
yellow lines and quickly activated their patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and
siren. The driver yielded to the officers requests near the intersection of San
Jose and Santa Ynez. Officer Mroz asked the motorist for his license, insurance
and registration. The driver, who smelled of liquor and had bloodshot eyes,
instead gave Mroz a cell phone advertisement. The suspect admitted to having a
consumed a couple of shots of brandy at a hotel near Geneva and Bayshore. He
failed a field sobriety test and a breath alcohol assessment revealed an
alcohol level three times the legal limit. The suspect was transported to
Mission Station where a phlebotomist took blood samples. He was then
transferred to the county jail and booked for DUI. Report number: 170168138
4:26pm Diamond
& Bosworth Robbery
Quick police response resulted in the arrest of a convicted
robber. A woman riding BART, looking at her phone, was suddenly confronted by a
suspect who pulled her arm and took her phone. The suspect ran through the
train trailed by the victim and witnesses who attempted to stop the thief. The
suspect exited the train at the Glen Park Station with the victim and others in
pursuit. The thief then discarded the phone and exited the station while the
victim called police. The victim spotted the thief a short distance away, at
Bosworth and Diamond Streets and she again called dispatch. Ingleside Officers
Marshal and Zubko responded quickly and apprehended the suspect at a nearby
market. He was taken to Ingleside Station and later released into the custody
of BART police. He was on probation for a previous robbery at the time of his
arrest. Report number: 170169346
