Incident Date:Saturday, February 7th, 2015The next community meeting at Ingleside Station will be held on February 17, 2015 at 7p.m. Thank you.Arrests:1:18pm Persia/Athens D.U.I/Hit &RunThe call came in about a hit & run accident, with injuries, at Persia and Athens Streets. Ingleside Officers Archilla and Espinosa responded and found one driver suffering from neck injuries at his car near the curb of the intersection. The other car, without a driver, was half a block away on Athens Street. The injured driver told the officers he stopped at the intersection, looked both ways, and then started through when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a car race through a stop sign to his right and collided with his vehicle sending it spinning through the intersection. The driver of the other vehicle drove a short distance, stopped, got out, and ran away. Just then, dispatch radioed that a witness to the collision was following the suspect as he tried to escape through the neighborhood. After summoning medical help, Officers Archilla, Espinosa, now joined by Officer Suguitan drove to the intersection of Persia and Vienna where they apprehended the suspect. The other driver along with the witness positively identified the suspect as the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident. The officers noticed the driver had the smell and look of someone who may be inebriated. They conducted a roadside sobriety test which the suspect failed. A subsequent breath intoxication test revealed a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. The suspect was taken to the county jail and booked for D.U.I, hit and run, and operating a vehicle without valid insurance. The other driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital and treated for his injuries. Report number: 1501169755:28pm 3300 Blk Mission Aggravated Assault/ResistingIngleside Officers Bryant and Clemente were in the Safeway parking lot for an unrelated case when a woman approached them, pointing to the store, and said, “There’s a woman screaming in the bathroom”. The officers exited their patrol car and started walking toward the store when they were approached by a security guard who pointed out a man walking saying, “That’s the guy”. The officers ran toward the man yelling, “Stop. Police. We need to talk to you”. But the suspect ignored their commands, and instead got into a late model Mercedes started it, and, while the officers tried to prevent him from leaving the scene, backed into a parked Honda almost running over Officer Clemente. The suspect then sped out of the parking lot narrowly missing passing vehicles and pedestrians. The suspect continued his escape by driving on the wrong side of San Jose Avenue at high speed, turned onto Randall, then drove at high speed northbound on Mission Street forcing several drivers to apply their brakes to avoid collisions. Other Ingleside officers arrived and interviewed several witnesses who said they heard a woman screaming for help in the store’s restroom claiming she was being sexually assaulted. They, along with Safeway personnel, forced the door open at which point the suspect escaped as they helped the victim leave the restroom. While Ingleside Officers were gathering evidence at the scene and talking to witnesses, a call came in from the Southern Police District that the driver of the Mercedes, the suspect in the assault case, was apprehended after a traffic collision at 6th and Mission Streets. He had collided with another vehicle and attempted to escape on foot when he was arrested after the collision. He was taken to the county jail and booked for assault, aggravated assault on a police officer, and several other violations. Report number: 150117650Serious Incidents:8:21pm 4400 Blk Mission RobberyA thief walked into a restaurant, grabbed some cold drinks from a refrigerated case, placed them in a shoulder bag, and walked out after struggling with employees who were attempting to stop the thief. The shop owners told Ingleside Officers Shugars and Imsand that during the struggle the suspect lost a shoe which was turned over to police. Shortly thereafter a MUNI rider called dispatch to report a suspicious man, wearing one shoe and carrying a shoulder bag, exited a #14 MUNI bus at Bosworth and Diamond Streets. The officers traveled to the intersection but the suspect had already left the area. Although there are many charming officers on the force, no one has risen yet to the rank of “Prince” to be assigned this case.
