Weather related crime alert; with the current nice weather and increased temperature, some people are leaving their windows open in an effort to keep their residences cooler inside. Be extra careful, especially when you leave your home and leave the windows unsecured. Burglars are always looking for the easiest way inside your home. Don’t give them that opportunity for the easy access. Make sure to secure these entry points and leave them locked when you are not around.

Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.

Arrests:

4:22pm       Bernal Heights/Ellsworth                Drugs
Officers Pan and Johnson were on patrol when they were dispatched to the location of Bernal Heights Boulevard regarding a female in a U-Haul truck using the back area of homes as a toilet. Upon arrival, the officers located the truck as well as the female, who was inside the back cargo area. The female appeared to be very nervous and sweating profusely as the officers made contact with her. The officers asked if they could perform a cursory search and were given permission to do so. During the search, Officer Johnson found a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine inside one of her pockets. The officers then searched the back of the truck, which was being used as living quarters, and found Marijuana and a glass pipe. The female suspect told the officers that she did not possess a valid medical marijuana card. The officers seized the evidences and placed her under arrest. She was transported to Ingleside Station and booked on numerous drug and paraphernalia charges. Her truck was left legally parked at the same location.  Report Number: 130374422

The female passenger asked the victim if he could pull up a map using his phone. When the victim did so, the female suspect forcefully grabbed his phone from his hands and drove off from the area last seen headed eastbound on Judson Avenue.
