Weather related crime alert; with the current nice weather and increased temperature, some people are leaving their windows open in an effort to keep their residences cooler inside. Be extra careful, especially when you leave your home and leave the windows unsecured. Burglars are always looking for the easiest way inside your home. Don’t give them that opportunity for the easy access. Make sure to secure these entry points and leave them locked when you are not around.

Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.
