Weather related crime alert; with the current nice weather and increased temperature, some people are leaving their windows open in an effort to keep their residences cooler inside. Be extra careful, especially when you leave your home and leave the windows unsecured. Burglars are always looking for the easiest way inside your home. Don’t give them that opportunity for the easy access. Make sure to secure these entry points and leave them locked when you are not around.
Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.
Arrests:
2:51am 5000 Blk Mission Drugs
Officers Padilla and Seavey were on duty when they went into the Amazon Hotel to conduct a probation check. The officers were looking for a subject who was currently on probation and had a search condition. They then made their way to his hotel room and announced their presence. When the door opened they could see two male subjects inside, one of whom was the person they were looking for. Upon entering the room they could see three pieces of cocaine base, commonly known as “crack cocaine”, as well as a glass pipe used to ingest the drug. The other subject in the room immediately confessed and admitted to the officers that the drugs were his. They conducted a check on that subject, which revealed five outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was immediately placed under arrest. The officers continued with their search and found no other illegal contraband inside. The other subject was released at the scene and the one under arrest was taken to Ingleside Station. He was eventually booked for the drug charge and outstanding warrants. Report Number: 130369467
Serious Incidents:
12:33pm 5400 Blk Mission Theft
Officer Dove and Sgt Springer were on patrol when they received a call about a theft that just occurred at the McDonalds located on the 5400 block of Mission Street. Upon arrival, they met with the victim, who said she was sitting down at a table holding her baby and listening to music, when two unknown suspects grabbed her Ipad off the table and took off running. She tried to chase after the Suspects, but lost them as they made their way northbound on Mission to eastbound Florentine Street. The officers were able to find surveillance footage of the theft and could clearly see the suspects stealing the property. Unfortunately, the victim did not have a tracking program installed in her Ipad; therefore, it couldn’t be tracked down. Report Number: 130370486
