If you happen to see what may seem like a fight taking place on the street, it could actually be a robbery taking place. Immediately call (415) 553-8090 from your cell phone or “911” from a landline. Ingleside Police Officers are stepping up their efforts and increasing patrol to the area as well as sending our plain clothes officers to conduct surveillance. Remember, report any crime that you see taking place or anything that looks suspicious.

Weather related safety; Due to the inclement weather involving high winds, there have been numerous downed power lines and fallen tree limbs throughout the city. If there is a power line down in your neighborhood, for your own safety, do not approach it and stay a safe distance away while calling “911”.  Our headquarters will dispatch officers as well as the appropriate department to come out and assess the situation and repair the damage. If there is a fallen tree limb, call “311” and request DPW (Department of Public Works) to come out and handle the hazard. Also, be sure to look up to see if there are any broken tree limbs that are hanging from the tree that can pose a threat to people and/or property. Call “311” immediately.

Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.

Arrests:

4:07pm       4700 Blk Mission                            Resisting/Delaying
Officers Cahill and Sugitan were on duty and on routine patrol when a citizen flagged them down regarding a subject who was causing a disturbance at the intersection of Mission and Russia Street. The citizen stated that the subject intentionally threw a shopping cart into the traffic lanes trying to cause an accident and/or traffic jam. The citizen then pointed to the subject, who was standing across the street with an acquaintance. The officers immediately took the shopping cart out of the way of incoming cars and went to confront the subject. Upon making contact, the subject immediately became hostile and uncooperative towards the officers. The subject began yelling and cursing at the officers and refused to follow their instructions. At one point, the officers asked to see the subject’s identification, so he took out his wallet and threw it at Officer Cahill’s face. Luckily, Officer Cahill was able to dodge the wallet and avoid getting hit. The officers reacted to the subject’s combative behavior and pepper sprayed him. After a brief struggle, the officers were able to subdue him. Medics responded and transported the subject to the local hospital to treat him for the pepper spray. The officers cited the subject for resisting, issuing a citation, and was released from the hospital. Report Number: 130290737

6:21pm       Addison /Diamond Heights              Burglary
Officer Deshong and Sgt McDevitt responded to the area of Diamond Heights and Addison Street regarding a suspect who was looking into unattended vehicles parked along the street. The suspect was seen looking into every parked vehicle and trying several door handles. The officers searched the area and located the suspect who matched the description given by the caller. A search of the suspect revealed a window punch, which is commonly used by thieves to get into cars to steal items inside.  The caller was taken to the location and positively identified the suspect as the same subject he saw casing the vehicles. The suspect was arrested and transported to Ingleside station where he was booked for possession of a burglary tool. Report Number: 130291202

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
