Officers Dun and Archilla were on patrol driving Southbound on Mission Street when they observed a subject standing on the 4400 block of Mission Street smoking a cigarette in front of an open business, which is a direct violation of city ordinance 1099.22(e) H&S.  The officers spoke to the subject and advised him of the violation. The officers then conducted a computer check, which showed the subject to be on active probation and proceeded to conduct a probation search. During the search, Officer Dun located a glass pipe, which the officer knew is commonly used to smoke drugs.  The glass pipe was seized and the subject was cited for the smoking violation as well as being in possession of narcotics paraphernalia and released from the scene. Officers Hopkins and Uang were on patrol driving through the 900 block of Ellsworth Street when they observed a vehicle parking and its occupants exiting said vehicle. The officers immediately recognized the driver, from having dealt with him before, and knew he was wanted on numerous charges from an incident that took place just a day before. In that incident, the suspect ran from police, and in the midst of the chase discarded a loaded firearm. Today, the officers stopped and walked towards the suspect, but before they could get close, the suspect took off running. After a brief foot chase through the Alemany Farm, the suspect stopped and gave up. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and transported to Ingleside Station where he was booked on several charges including resisting, delaying, and obstructing police officer duties. Report Number: 130284815

Serious Incidents:

10:00pm     5400 Blk Mission                    Robbery
Officers Zerga and Gabriel along with several other Ingleside units respond to a robbery that took place on the 5400 block of Mission Street. Officer Zerga met with the victim, who said he posted an ad on Craigslist wanting to buy cell phones. Later in the day, an unknown suspect replied and said he had cell phones to sell and agreed to meet with the victim. The victim met with the suspect and asked to see the merchandise. The suspect opened up his backpack as a distraction, then lifted up his jacket exposing a handgun and said, “Give me your money, you have 5 seconds or I will start shooting”. Fearing for his safety, the victim took out his money and handed it over to the suspect. The suspect grabbed the money and immediately fled the area last seen headed Southbound on Mission Street. The victim was not injured. Report Number: 130285512.

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
