Officers Hauscarriague and Grennell were dispatched to the scene of a hit and run accident involving a possible intoxicated driver. When they arrived at the accident location, Ingleside Officers Chew and Lustenburger were questioning two men with watery eyes and slurred speech with heavy odor of alcohol on their breaths and bodies. All four officers noticed a small SUV had collided with a parked car which then collided with another parked car in front of it. A local resident, who reported the collision, said she heard screeching then a crash and observed the two suspects leave the SUV and slowly walk away. During questioning, the driver admitted “having a shot and a beer”. However, a subsequent breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of .0245%, 3 times the legal limit. A search of the SUV turned up an empty bottle of vodka. The driver was arrested and booked for numerous violations. Report number: 130280001

Officer Hurwitz asked the driver to exit the vehicle and he complied. During questioning, he told officer Hurwitz that he had been arrested several times in the past for narcotics and other crimes. Serious Incidents:

7:40pm       800 Blk Peralta                      Assault/Robbery
Officers Sawyer and Zerga responded to a call of a U- Haul driver intentionally hitting another vehicle. Upon arriving, the driver of the car that was hit, told the officers the incident was related to a laptop and money that was owed him. He said he spotted his former roommate and another person in the U Haul while driving in the south or Market area earlier that evening. He followed and tried to contact them, without success, on his cell phone. At one point, both vehicles stopped at 24th and Capp streets and the roommate returned the laptop to the victim, but not his money, before getting back in the truck. The chase continued with both vehicles eventually entering a dead end street where the victim tried to block the U- Haul truck with his car. At that point, the victim’s ex-roommate got out of the truck, went to the victim’s window, and took both of his cell phones preventing him from calling police. The suspect, after taking the phone, returned a short time later and threw the phones back at the victim. The suspect then got back into the U -Haul and backed into the car while leaving the dead end street. The suspects escaped in an unknown direction. Report number: 130282502

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
