5:00pm       55 Phelan Ave               Unlicensed Driver
Officer Edais, a San Francisco Community College Police Officer, was dispatched to a traffic accident call on Phelan Avenue. The fire Department also responded. When he arrived, he met with the registered owner of the vehicle involved. She said that she brought out her fifteen year old daughter to the upper reservoir parking lot so that she could practice her driving. While the daughter was driving, she instructed her to park the vehicle in a parking stall. The daughter went to do so, but mistakenly pressed on the gas pedal as opposed to the brake pedal. When she pressed on the gas pedal, it caused the vehicle to jump the curb and crash into a table, a planter box and benches before hitting a water faucet and the wall it was attached to before coming to a stop. The owner/mother advised Officer Edais that her daughter did not have a driver’s learning permit that allowed her to drive, therefore she was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive her vehicle. The mother and daughter were not injured and refused any medical treatment. The vehicle was drivable and only sustained body damage. Footage of the collision via video camera was retrieved.
