Arrests:
2:50PM      5800 Blk Mission          Theft Arrest
Officer Kerlegan took a report from Officer Hurwitz who initially went to the 5800 block of Mission Street regarding a theft that occurred at the AM/PM gas station. Officer Hurwitz spoke with the owner who said he saw the suspect come into the store whom he recognized from prior incidents. The owner advised that this suspect had come in on previous occasions to steal candy bars. The owner kept an eye on the subject as he made his way through the store. He then saw the suspect pick out a box of snickers and conceal it under his baggy jacket and walked out without paying for any of the candy. The owner confronted the subject and recovered the box of candy and detained him placing him under citizen’s arrest. The owner then called for the police. The suspect was transported to Ingleside Station where he was cited for the theft then released from the station. The owner told the officers that he had the whole incident recorded on his surveillance camera to document if needed. Report Number 130010585

4:00pm       400 Blk Cortland          Threats Arrest
Officer Elton went to investigate a possible bank robbery that was taking place on the 400 block of Cortland Avenue. Dispatch advised that two males inside the bank were saying they are going to rob the bank and shoot somebody inside as well. Dispatch provided the description of both suspects to the numerous units responding to the scene. When Officer Elton arrived, he observed two suspects matching the description given, standing outside in front of the Bank of America. Officer Elton went to speak to these suspects who immediately became uncooperative and confrontational.  Knowing that bank robbers are often times armed with weapons, Officer Elton proceeded to perform a search on both suspects. One of the two suspects refused to be searched and began yelling expletives at Officer Elton. Being the only officer on scene and outnumbered, Officer Elton requested additional units. Once back-up arrived, both suspects were searched and handcuffed. They spoke to the bank manager who stated that both suspects came into the bank and were acting very odd while huddled at one end of the bank. The manager and another employee became suspicious and concerned and spoke with the two suspects. It was revealed that the two suspects had business inside the bank and were charging their cell phone without anyone’s permission. When asked to leave, the suspects became angry and said they were going to rob the bank and shoot someone, a poor choice of words on both of their parts. Both suspects were transported to Ingleside Station and booked for making the threats accordingly. Report Number 130010870

4:22pm       Mission/Silver               Hit and Run Arrest
Officers Almaguer and Hom went to the area of Mission and Silver Avenue on a call of a Hit and Run accident involving Officer Hurwitz’s patrol vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle that collided into Officer Hurwitz’s patrol vehicle abandoned his vehicle and fled the area on foot. A description of the driver was broadcasted for the units who were searching the area. Officer Hurwitz sustained injuries as a result and was transported to UCSF Medical Center for treatment. Officers Almaguer and Hom obtained the registered owner’s information and responded to the listed address.  Moments later, they observed a suspect matching the description of the one fleeing the scene, walking out of the address. The officers quickly detained this suspect. Inside his backpack he had the vehicle’s detachable radio and the same clothing he was wearing at the time of the accident. A witness who saw the accident was brought out to view the suspect and identified him as the one who was driving the vehicle and fleeing the scene. The suspect was transported to Ingleside Station and booked for the Hit and Run accident. Report Number 130010745.
