Officers Benavidez and Jones were on patrol when they observed a vehicle with a failed head light.  They conducted a traffic stop and noticed the driver was illegally possessing a baton.  The driver provided an Oregon driver’s license and a record check revealed he did not have a California Driver’s License.  He told the officers he had been living in California for the past two years.  The driver was cited for driving with no driver’s license and a friend with a valid license responded and picked up his vehicle for him.  At the instruction of Sgt. Daniels, he was booked into custody for the weapons violation.  Report Number 120168144

Officers Hopkins and Uang were on patrol in the Sunnydale Housing Projects when they were dispatched to the call of a trespasser.  The reportee advised that the suspect had entered the premises from a top floor window.  The officers located an individual who matched the suspect description and detained him not far from the address.  They located the reportee who responded to the area and positively identified the suspect as the individual who had illegally entered the apartment.  The reportee signed a citizen’s arrest and the suspect was taken into custody.  The suspect was transported to Ingleside station pending further investigation.  A record check also revealed an outstanding warrant.  He was booked for the trespass and the warrant.  Report Number 120166132

12:30pm     Velasco/Santos              Firearm
Officer Fung and several other Ingleside officers responded to a possible burglary in progress.  Dispatch provided a description of the suspect and the officers detained an individual matching the description in the area.  The individual immediately became agitated and the officers placed him in handcuffs for his protection and theirs.  The individual began struggling with the officers and he was placed under arrest for resisting/delaying an investigation.  An arrest search located a firearm in a box the suspect was carrying.  He was booked into custody for resisting and illegal possession of a firearm.  He was provided with a property receipt for his items.  Report Number 120166182

4:50pm       Mission/Geneva            Traffic Violation
Officers Ng and Tillan were on patrol when they observed a male in the intersection disrupting traffic.  They detained the individual who was unable to provide any proof of identification.  He was transported to Ingleside station pending further investigation.  He was identified through the SFPD’s mugshot photo system and cited for the traffic violation.  Report Number 120167237

10:57pm     800 Blk Moscow           Narcotics
Officers McCall and Lozano were on patrol conducting a passing call at Crocker Amazon Playground when they observed a parked vehicle in an area where there are no parking signs in the evening hours.  They made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and, in plain view, noticed a bag containing a large amount of a green leafy substance which they believed to be marijuana.  The officers had both occupants exit the vehicle and placed them in handcuffs in the rear of their patrol vehicle. 

The suspects were given their Miranda rights and agreed to speak with the officers.  They told the officers that the marijuana was theirs and they had purchased it for medical purposes.  Neither suspect was able to provide the officers with a Medical Marijuana Card.  At the instruction of Sgt. Riskin, the suspects were transported to Ingleside station and booked into custody for possession of the narcotics.  The suspects were issued property receipts for their items.  The officers sealed the narcotics and transported it to the Narcotics Box at the Hall of Justice.  Report Number 120167914

Officers Rueca and Elton were sent to investigate a burglary.  The reportee stated that she was on her balcony when she observed a male inside a premise across the way exit the apartment with a television.  She provided a description of the possible suspect and officers canvassed the area unsuccessfully in search of him.  They responded to the address and met with two of the tenants.  The upstairs tenant found no sign of forced entry and nothing appeared to be missing.  The downstairs tenant said she locked and secured her front door and noticed there was now damage to the lock.  She said that there were several items missing.  She was provided with follow up information.  The officers could locate no other sign of forced entry and determined the front door to be the point of entry and exit.  They took pictures of the scene and booked them into evidence at Ingleside station.  They contacted SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigation who advised they would be responding to process the scene for evidence.  Report Number 120166201

Officers Araujo and LaRocca responded to a trespassing call.  They met with the victim in front of the address and he told the officers he was upstairs in his home when he heard footsteps downstairs.  He went downstairs and heard the suspect run out the rear door of his home.  The victim said he had locked and secured the door and it was now open.  The victim said he locked the door after he called the police and did not get a look at who may have been inside the home.  He said that nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing.  The officers took pictures of the scene and provided him with follow up information.  Due to the lack of physical evidence, and the fact that the victim had already touched the rear door where the suspect may have entered, SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit was not notified.  Report Number 120165623

Officers Park and Chang responded to a burglary.  They met with the victim who advised that he locked and secured the home and when he returned found several items missing, but no sign of forced entry.  Because the home was under construction, the officers did not notify SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit to respond and process the scene.  They provided the victim with follow up information.  They were unable to locate any sign of forced entry into the premises.  They spoke with a neighbor who has a surveillance camera and requested a copy of the video for follow up reasons.  The neighbor said the surveillance showed a male exiting the home and boarding a white vehicle.  The officers canvassed the area for the suspect and the vehicle to no avail.  Report Number 120166938

Officers Marino and Aslam were sent to investigate a fire.  They met with the reportee who advised that someone had set fire to one of the trash bins in the building.  There were no suspects and no damage to the building as SFFD responded immediately and extinguished the fire.  The officers provided all parties with follow up information.  Report Number 120166160

1:35pm       4700 Blk Mission          Assault W/Knife
Officer Hermosura and several other Ingleside officers were dispatched to the call of a stabbing.  They arrived on scene and located an individual whose clothing was covered in blood.  The victim was conscious and able to speak with the officers.  The officers immediately summoned an ambulance to the scene to treat the victim for his injuries.  The victim was able to tell the officers that he observed a confrontation outside of a bar and believed someone was about to assault a friend of his.  He pushed the individual aside and suddenly felt pain in his back as he and the suspect began fighting.  The suspect then left the area and boarded a vehicle which fled westbound on Persia.  Officers canvassed the area for the suspect and vehicle to no avail.

The victim said he did not know the suspect and would not be able to identify him if he saw him again.  The victim was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.  The officers responded to the hospital where they took pictures of the victim’s injuries and took custody of his bloody clothing.  All evidence was booked at Ingleside station.  They provided the victim with follow up information.  Report Number 120165253

A victim responded to Ingleside station and told PSA Zabarte that she secured her scooter near her apartment and when she returned found the power cord had been cut.  She did not see anyone damage the cord but believes it might be a neighbor who she has had issues with.  She was provided with follow up information.  Report Number 120162936

Officers Chang and Park were sent to a call where a woman had her purse stolen.  They spoke with the victim who told them that she was sitting in the restaurant when a male entered the premises and began lurking around.  He then sat behind her and suddenly grabbed her purse and ran out of the restaurant.  The victim was not injured and said she could recognize the suspect if she saw him again.  She was provided with follow up information.  The officers viewed the video footage of the suspect and ordered a copy of it for further investigation.  They searched the area unsuccessfully for the suspect.  Report Number 120167657

Arrests:

4:15pm       5200 Blk Diamond Hts Petty Theft
Officers Kerlegan and Peregrina were dispatched to a shoplifting call. They met with the reportee who advised that he observed a male enter the store, conceal various items in his coat and exit the store without attempting to pay for any of the items.  The reportee detained the suspect and escorted him back into the store.  He signed a citizen’s arrest to have the suspect arrested and was provided with follow up information.  The suspect was transported to Ingleside station pending further investigation.  A record check revealed an outstanding warrant and various prior arrests for petty theft.  He was booked into custody upon confirmation of the warrant.

Officers Kerlegan and Peregrina were on patrol when they observed a vehicle with a failed head light.  They affected a traffic stop and the driver stated he did not have a license.  A record check revealed the driver’s license had been suspended and that he had an active warrant.  The vehicle was towed to Auto Return.  The suspect was transported to Ingleside station and booked upon confirmation of the warrant.  He was issued a citation for the traffic violation.  Report Number 120164506

Officer Preston was sent to investigate a vandalism.  He spoke with the reportee who stated that he locked and secured the common area which enters the building and accesses several units.  A neighbor called him to advise that there was damage to the front door and the internal lock mechanism had been damaged.  No entry had been made to any of the apartments and there did not appear to be anything missing.  Because the reportee and tenants had touched the damaged area, thereby contaminating any possible fingerprint evidence, Officer Preston did not process the scene for evidence.  He provided the reportee with follow up information and searched the area for possible suspects to no avail.  Report Number 120164653

Officers Paras and Shugars were sent to meet with a victim of a robbery.  The victim advised that she was walking on Geneva when she felt she was being followed because she heard footsteps behind her.  She said that an unknown suspect approached her from behind, grabbed her purse from her and ran down Geneva towards Carrizal.  The victim said that another suspect punched her on the back of her head which knocked her down.  The victim was not injured and refused medical assistance.  She said she would not be able to identify the suspects if she saw them again because she did not get a good look at them.  She was provided with follow up information and officers searched the area unsuccessfully for any sign of the suspects or the purse.  Report Number 120164653

Officer Sugitan took a counter report regarding a battery.  The victim advised that he was at a function when a known suspect approached him and punched him repeatedly in the eye.  The victim had visible bruising but refused medical assistance.  He provided the officer with the suspect information, and filed a citizen’s arrest to have him prosecuted in the future.  He was provided with follow up information and the officer took pictures of his injuries which he booked into evidence at Ingleside station.  Report Number 120163172

Officers Gabriel and Apodaca were dispatched to investigate an assault. They encountered a victim who was bleeding profusely from the head and facial area.  The officers immediately summoned an ambulance to the scene.  The victim stated that he was arguing with a roommate regarding their living situation when the suspect punched him in the face repeatedly and threw him onto the sidewalk.  The victim then left the area walking in the direction of Sunnydale Avenue.  Officers searched the area unsuccessfully for the suspect.  They obtained an Emergency Protective Order for the victim who was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.  He was provided with follow up information.  The officers took pictures of his injuries which they booked into evidence at Ingleside station.  Report Number 120165128

11:47pm     Mission/Russia              Robbery
Officers Lozano and McCall responded to a robbery.  The victims advised that they were on a MUNI bus and one of them was playing a game on his cellular phone.  A group of males who were on the bus grabbed the phone and began fighting with the victim.  When the second victim attempted to break up the fight, one of the suspects grabbed a bottle and struck the victim on his head.  The suspects then exited the bus and ran down Russia Avenue with the victim’s cellular phone.  Both victims said they would able to identify the suspects if they saw them again. The officers summoned an ambulance to the scene to treat one of the victims for a laceration to the head area.  He was transported to the hospital for further medical assistance.  The victims were provided with follow up information. 

The officers contacted MUNI dispatch and ordered a copy of the surveillance video.  They searched the area unsuccessfully for the suspects.  Report Number 120165112

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Arrests:

3:56pm       300 Blk Congo St          Narcotics
Officer Hurwitz responded to a report of possible narcotics sales.  The officer spotted a possible suspect sitting in a vehicle near the premise where drugs were supposedly being sold.  The officer made contact with the suspect.  The suspect told the officer that she was waiting for a friend.  While the officer was talking to the suspect, a second suspect exited the premise and approached the vehicle.  The second suspect told the officer that he was on parole.  A third suspect exited the premise and got into the vehicle.  Officer Chew responded to the scene to assist.  Officer Chew conducted a parole search of the second suspect and retrieved suspected narcotics from his person.  He was placed under arrest.  The third suspect was on probation with a warrantless search condition.  Officer Hurwitz asked the suspect if she had anything illegal on her.  The suspect began crying and admitted to having narcotics on her.  The suspect removed the narcotics from her pants and handed it to the officer.  The officers called for a K-9 unit, which responded and conducted a search of the suspect’s residence.  Several pieces of evidence were retrieved, including a digital scale and other items indicating that narcotic sales were occurring.  The third suspect was arrested.  The first suspect who had been waiting in the car was released from the scene.  Report 120161734

Officer Lundy was dispatched to a report of a theft.  The victim was riding the MUNI, holding his cell phone in his hand.  There was a subject sitting next to the victim.  The victim fell asleep.  When he woke up, the victim discovered that his cell phone was gone and that the subject that had been sitting next to him had moved seats.  The officer contacted the subject, who gave the officer permission to search him for the phone.  The officer searched the subject but did not locate the phone.  The victim was under the influence of alcohol and was unable to provide any further information.  Report 120159927

4:47am       900 Blk Geneva Ave     Burglary
Officer Lundy responded to a report of burglary.  A witness told the officer that he was looking out his window and saw two suspects across the street at a business.  At first the witness thought the suspects were delivering baked goods, until he realized that it was too early for the delivery to be arriving.  The witness then noticed a third suspect standing in the shadows.  The witness claimed that a marked Daly City patrol unit drove by, which appeared to have spooked the suspects.  All three fled.  The officer inspected the front door of the business and discovered a small piece of wood had been broken off and there was damage to the deadbolt.  The suspects did not make entry into the premise.  Report 120160093

Officers Morrow and Trujillo were dispatched to a report of vandalism.  The victim parked his car and secured it, leaving it unattended.  When the victim returned, he discovered that an unknown suspect had poured paint on his car.  The victim was able to wash most of the paint off.  The victim believed that the vandalism was caused by a neighbor that was angry with him regarding a prior incident.  The victim did not see who damaged his car.  Report 120160203

Officers Apodaca and Gabriel responded to a report of theft.  The victim returned home and was approached by a witness.  The witness told her that a suspect had entered the victim’s room and stole a check.  When the officers attempted to contact the witness, she refused to cooperate or speak about the incident.  Report 120159795

Arrests:

6:35am       Oneida/Alemany           Warrant
Officer Trujillo and several other Ingleside officers responded to assist Sgt. Escobar on a call of a robbery.  Dispatch advised that the victim was a Spanish speaker who stated that various males had attempted to take his wallet.  Officer Trujillo, a certified Spanish speaking officer, arrived on scene and spoke with two males who were on scene.  Both males had a strong odor of alcohol on their breath and one of them spoke with the officers and claimed he was the victim.  The victim offered various different scenarios regarding what had occurred and his statements were inconsistent.  The other male with him refused to speak with the police.  After several attempts to clarify the store the victim said he did not want any further police action and just wanted to be left alone.  Officer Trujillo advised that Sgt. Escobar had a few males detained that were possibly involved but the victim refused to cooperate.  He left the scene with the other male.

Officer Trujillo responded to the scene where Sgt. Escobar had various males detained.  A record check of one of the males returned with an active warrant.  All other males were released at the scene because the victim refused to cooperate with police.  The male with the warrant was transported to Ingleside station where he was booked into custody upon confirmation of the warrant.  Report Number 120157341

A victim responded to Ingleside station and told Officer Cavanaugh that she parked and secured her vehicle and when she returned found that someone had keyed the hood area.  She was unable to provide any suspect information and there were no witnesses.  She was provided with follow up information and PSA Heckenberg took pictures of the damage which she booked into evidence at Ingleside station.  Report Number 120158305

Officer Peregoy was sent to investigate the vandalism of a vehicle.  He spoke with the victim who stated that she parked and secured her vehicle and when she returned found the windshield had been cracked.  She was unable to provide the officer with any further information and requested a police report for insurance purposes.  She was provided with follow up information.  Report Number 120161245

Officer Lim was sent to investigate malicious mischief.  He spoke with the victim who told him he left his business secure and when he returned he found his front window had fresh graffiti.  He was unable to provide any more details regarding the incident.  He was provided with follow up information.  Report Number 120157874

11:17pm     400 Blk Holladay          Discharge of Firearm
Officers Leong and Lustenberger were dispatched to a call of shots fired.  A witness reported hearing at least seven gunshots.  The officers located a vehicle that had damage caused by gunshots.  At least three other witnesses also heard gunshots.  One witness reported hearing an argument just prior to the gunshots.  The officers recovered several bullet casings in the area.  No one was hurt in this incident.  Report Number 120159579

Arrests:

4:05am       200 Moreland St                     Threats
Officers Gabriel and Apodaca responded to a report of threats.  The victim was at a residence collecting some of her belongings.  The suspect exited the residence and screamed at the victim, cursing and threatening to kill her.  The victim became fearful and left the area.  Several other officers responded to the area and contacted the suspect.  The suspect told the officers that he was asleep in his residence when he heard loud banging.  The suspect got up to see what was going on.  The suspect said he saw the victim banging repeatedly on his front door.  The suspect yelled at the victim to leave.  The victim positively identified the suspect, and he was arrested for threats.  Report 120154074

2:20pm       Mission & Norton St              Vandalism
Officers Barajas and Morrow were on patrol when they were flagged down by a citizen.  The citizen reported to the officers that he saw a man, possibly intoxicated, lying on the sidewalk.  The officers made contact with the suspect.  As the suspect stood up, he showed obvious signs of intoxication, such as unsteadiness on his feet.  He also smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages.  The officers offered assistance to the suspect and contacted a mobile assistance program to transport the suspect to shelter.  The officers asked the suspect to sit while they waited for his transportation.  The suspect repeatedly refused and stood up several times.  Suddenly, the suspect grabbed a brick that was lying nearby and began running at the officer’s patrol vehicle.  The officers attempted to stop the suspect, but were unsuccessful. The brick hit the windshield of the patrol vehicle, causing it to shatter.  The brick bounced off the windshield and hit the vehicle’s hood, causing a dent and several scratches.  The officers grabbed the suspect and placed him under arrest.  Report 120155254

Officers Baldovino and Lundy were dispatched to a report regarding theft from a vehicle.  A witness was asleep when he suddenly heard a loud crash, causing him to wake up.  The witness was unsure of what was happening so he listened for another minute.  The witness heard a car door opening and closing.  The witness went outside and saw a suspect standing in a nearby driveway.  The witness yelled at the suspect, who fled.  The officers made contact with the owner of the vehicle to advise him of the incident.  Report 120154018

Officers Burke and Lustenberger responded to a report of found property.  The witness returned home and located a purse on her property.  The purse did not belong to her and she wanted to turn it over to the police.  The officers took custody of the purse and located a vehicle registration card inside.  The officers responded to the address on the registration card and contacted the victim.  The victim told the officers that he vehicle had been broken into and her purse stolen.  The officers returned the victim’s purse.  Report 120155668

Officer Morgante was dispatched to a report of theft from a vehicle.  The victim explained to the officer that he runs his own business.  He keeps most of his tools in lock boxes that are attached to his work truck.  The lock boxes had been forced open and the tools stolen.  Report 120157636

Officers Dilag took a report regarding theft from a vehicle.  The victim reported that she parked her vehicle, and secured it.  Upon her return, she realized that several of her personal belongings were missing.  There was no damage or signs of forced entry into the vehicle.  Report 120156042

Officers Burke and Carrasco were on patrol when they observed a vehicle fail to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.  They affected a traffic stop and explained to the driver that they would be issuing a citation for the violation.  The passenger identified himself and told the officers he was on parole and may have a warrant for his arrest.  He was transported to Ingleside station where the warrant was confirmed and he was booked into custody.  Report Number 120152761

Officers Padilla and Seavey responded to a panic alarm. They met with reportee who advised that an individual who was sitting on the sidewalk refused to leave the premises.  The officers detained the male and a record check revealed an outstanding warrant.  He was transported to Ingleside station where he was booked into custody upon confirmation of the warrant.  Report Number 120153634

Officer Browne was sent to investigate a male who was acting aggressively and throwing things on the street.  He arrived on scene and detained an individual who matched the description of the suspect.  A computer check revealed the individual had an outstanding warrant.  He was transported to Ingleside station and booked into custody upon confirmation of the warrant.  Report Number 120153797

Officers Morse and McMilton were dispatched to a robbery with a gun.  They met with the victim who advised that that she was walking down the street when an unknown male approached her, pointed a gun at her and asked her what she had on her.  The victim put her hands in the air and the suspect proceeded to reach into her pockets and remove several items.  The suspect then ran down Alemany.  The victim does not know the suspect but believes she could identify him if she saw him again.  She was not injured and refused medical assistance.  She was provided with follow up information.  The officers searched the area unsuccessfully for the suspect.  Report Number 120150577

Officer Phillips responded to a fraud.  He spoke with the victim who told him that he had received a phone call from an unknown suspect regarding winning a sweepstakes.  The victim wired a large amount of money and then never heard from the individual.  He disconnected his phone after this occurred and wanted the incident documented.  Report Number 120151365

SFCCPD Officer Zhadi responded to a theft. The victim told him that she placed her purse on a table and left it unattended while she went to the bathroom.  She returned and found her purse was missing.  She did not see anyone take the purse and there were no witnesses.  She was provided with follow up information.  Report Number 120151989

A victim responded to Ingleside station and told Officer Lee that he was having problems with a neighbor who had been verbally abusive.  The neighbor exited his home the other day and began yelling at the victim.  The next morning the victim noticed damage to his vehicle.  A while later the same suspect exited the home again and approached him as he was sitting in his car.  The suspect began yelling profanities and banging on the window.  He then produced a pipe which he began waiving around as if he was going to assault the victim and the victim drove away.  The victim was not injured but wanted the incident documented because he said he was afraid of the suspect.  Officer Lee provided him with follow up information.  Report Number 120151939

SFCCPD Officer Edais was dispatched to a vandalism of a vehicle.  The victim told the officer that she was attempted to park her vehicle when four males were standing in the stall area where she was trying to park. She asked the males to move and parked the vehicle.  She returned to her vehicle and found the rear windshield had been smashed.  She did not see anyone do the damage and there were no witnesses.  The officer took pictures of the damage which he booked into evidence and provided the victim with follow up information.  Report Number 120152501

5:00pm       100 Blk Brookdale       Burglary
Officers Obot and Johnson were dispatched to investigate a burglary.  The resident had been informed by a neighbor that her door had been kicked in.  The officers found the rear door to the premise damaged and the dead bolt lock lying on the floor.  They observed that the inside of the apartment had been ransacked.  The officers cleared the apartment which was empty.  There was no other sign of forced entry and they determined the rear door of the premise to be the point of entry and exit.

The resident responded and advised that she left the apartment locked and secured.  She noticed several items missing and told the officers no one else had keys to the apartment.  The officers took pictures of the scene which they booked into evidence at Ingleside station. They contacted SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit who would be responding to process the apartment for evidence.  The officers provided the victim with follow up information.  Report Number 120151810

Officer Morgante was working station duty at Ingleside station when a victim came in to report an auto boost.  He told the officer that he parked and secured his vehicle and when he returned found the doors unlocked and several items missing.  He stated there was no sign of forced entry and was unable to provide any suspect information.  Officer Morgante provided him with follow up information.  Report Number 120154563
