2:51pm O’Shaughnessy/Portola Auto Grand Theft
Officers Elton and Rueca responded to a call of an unknown male sleeping in his vehicle while stopped in the middle of the intersection. The caller provided the license plate of the vehicle and Dispatch ran the plate and advised responding officers that the vehicle was stolen. Upon arrival, officers were pointed to the vehicle by the San Francisco Fire Department, who were also on scene. Officers observed the vehicle as it began to drive away. They followed the car and approached it with their lights and sirens. The driver complied and immediately pulled over. As officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the suspect was reaching towards the center/console area of the vehicle. The suspect was removed from the vehicle and placed in the back of the patrol vehicle pending further investigation. Officer Elton noticed that the car was running, but there were no keys in the ignition. He also noticed a black backpack located on the front passenger seat. The suspect was transported to Ingleside Station for further investigation. Once at the station officers searched the black backpack and found marijuana and heroin inside along with his personal effects. The suspect was booked for grand theft auto, and possession of narcotics. Report Number 120913632 ***Best Arrest of the Day***
