5:42pm Mission/France DUI
Officer Leong responded to assist Sgt. Lozada on a traffic collision where a pedestrian had been injured. Several witnesses at the scene told them that they observed a truck screech its tires and come to an abrupt stop. They then saw the driver of the truck exit the vehicle and attempt to flee the scene. They noticed a female victim lying on the floor near the truck and attempted to assist her. They alerted Sgt. Lozada who was in the area that a male was fleeing the scene of a crime. Sgt. Lozada caught up to the suspect and detained him as the suspect threw his car keys on the floor. The witnesses identified the suspect as the driver of the truck which had hit the pedestrian. Sgt. Lozada observed the suspect’s eyes to be bloodshot, he had an unsteady gait and his speech was slurred. There was a strong smell of alcohol emanating from his breath.
The suspect spoke Spanish and Officer Archilla arrived to assist with the translation. Officer Leong performed several field sobriety tests which the suspect failed to complete. He was taken into custody and transported to Mission Police Station where a blood test was conducted by a phlebotomist. The suspect was booked at the county jail for driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident. All evidence was booked accordingly. Serious Incidents:
1:00am 3700 Blk Mission Agg. Assault
Officers Carrasco and Dominguez were dispatched to investigate an assault. They met with the victim who had visible swelling to his left eye and temple area. The victim told him that he was drinking at a bar and began arguing with the suspect. They walked outside and the suspect repeatedly punched and kicked him as he fell to the ground. The suspect then fled the area. The victim said he could not identify him. An ambulance was summoned and transported the victim to the hospital for further medical evaluation. Officers took pictures of his injuries which they booked into evidence. Report number 120915177
4:30pm 400 Blk Holladay Hot Prowl
Officers Peregrina and McMilton were sent to the call of a possible hot prowl. The victim said her daughter was at home when their dog began barking. When the daughter came downstairs she noticed items missing. The victim said that it is possible the burglar entered through an unlocked door. The officers were unable to locate any sign of forced entry. Due to the lack of physical evidence, CSI did not respond. Report number 120915020
