Arrests:

4:06pm       4800 blk Mission          Drug Arrest
Officers Hurwitz and Johnson were conducting an investigation in the area of Mission and Russia Avenue, along with Officers Almaguer, Hom and Sgt Alvarez. The Officers were responding to numerous complaints from citizens regarding drug dealing and other nuisance crimes. The officers parked their car began watching the area. Moments later, Officer Hurwitz observed a suspect who she recognized from prior police contact. Officer Hurwitz knew this suspect had an extensive criminal history involving firearms, drug sales and other criminal charges. Officer Hurwitz watched this suspect as he talked to several people in and around the area. The suspect was then approached by another male suspect, and within seconds, a hand to hand drug sale took place.
Officer Hurwitz advised other officers via the radio for all officers to move in and detain both suspects. Officer Johnson searched the first suspect (drug dealer) and found loose marijuana inside his pants pocket. Officer Johnson continued her search and found a small pill bottle filled with additional marijuana in his other pocket. Sgt Alvarez searched the backpack he was carrying and found a glass jar filled with even more marijuana.
Officers Almaguer and Hom detained the second suspect (buyer) and recovered the marijuana, which he dropped when he saw the police moving in. Both suspects were then transported to Ingleside Station for booking. The second suspect spoke to Officer Almaguer and admitted to him that he had bought marijuana from the first suspect. Because of the amount of marijuana seized at the scene, and the statement made by the buyer, the first suspect was booked for possession and sales of drugs. The second suspect was released from Ingleside station. The citizens can rest knowing there is one less drug dealer off the streets. Report number 120799846.

5:30pm       Alemany/Justin             Drug Arrest
Officer Villaruel, Motorcycle patrol, was on routine patrol traveling Southbound on Alemany Boulevard from 280, when he noticed a White Dodge vehicle make an illegal U-turn at Alemany and Justin Drive. Officer Villaruel conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The driver could not provide Officer Villaruel with a California Driver’s License because he did not have one. Officer Villaruel conducted a computer inquiry on the driver and found that he has never been issued a driver’s license. Officer Villaruel found out that the driver was also on Felony probation with a search condition. Officer Villaruel proceeded to search the driver and the vehicle and found a small clear bag containing marijuana. The driver did not have a marijuana card or any prescription from a licensed physician stating he could lawfully possess the marijuana. Officer Villaruel proceeded to cite the driver and released him from the scene. Report number 120800001. Yet another drug user caught and now has to explain to the judge!
