Ingleside Station Captain Message:

Emerging/Recent Crime Trends—There was a spike in thefts on MUNI buses this past weekend where victims were robbed of their cell phones and Ipads.  If you ride the bus alone, please keep your electronics tucked away and hidden so as to not be an attractant to thieves.

Captain Daniel J. Mahoney

Arrests:

12:10pm              Mansell/John F. Shelly          Stolen Property
Officer Duncan and several other Ingleside officers were dispatched to the call of a stolen cellular phone.  The victim had her cellular phone stolen while riding a MUNI bus.  She called her cellular phone and the suspect demanded money.  The victim and a family member agreed to meet at a mutual location and when they confronted the suspect, he refused to return the phone.  In a struggle with the suspect, the family member was bitten and punched in the face.  As officers arrived on scene, the victims had the suspect on the ground and the officers attempted to handcuff him.  The victim identified her cellular phone as it fell out of the suspect’s pocket.  The officers took pictures of the cellular phone and the family member’s injuries as evidence.  They were provided with follow up information.  An ambulance was summoned and treated his injuries

The suspect complained of chest pain and was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.   A record check revealed he was on active probation.  At the instruction of Sgt. Sarkissian, he was booked at the county jail.  Report 120406154

7:30am                400 Blk Miguel                       Burglary
Officer Preston was dispatched to a burglary. The victim advised that she locked and secured her apartment and when she returned found the front door had been kicked in.  She said some items were missing and that she did not give anyone permission to enter the home.  The officer could find no other sign of forced entry and determined the front door to be the area where the suspect entered and exited.  He took pictures of the damage and booked them into evidence at Ingleside station.  He provided the victim with follow up information and was unable to locate any fingerprints or physical evidence.  There were no security cameras nearby that may have captured the incident.  Report 120406938
