Sgt. Escobar was on patrol in a marked patrol vehicle.  The Sgt. spotted a pedestrian crossing in the crosswalk.  There was vehicle traveling directly in front of the Sgt. that slowed near the pedestrian, but did not stop.  The vehicle nearly collided with the pedestrian.  The Sgt. conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver.  The driver told the Sgt. that he forgot his California’s driver’s license at home and handed him a Mexican driver’s license.  The license was ripped and appeared to have been photocopied.  The driver told the Sgt. that he did not remember the number to his California driver’s license.  The Sgt. was unable to locate the driver’s license through a record’s check, and could not confirm that the name on the Mexican driver’s license was the driver’s true name.  Officers Aslam and Craig responded to the scene and transported the driver to Ingleside Station pending further investigation.

Once at the station, the driver admitted to the Sgt. that he had lied about his name and provided him with a fake driver’s license.  The driver had a photocopy of his ID in his wallet.  A records check confirmed the drivers’ true name and revealed that had never been issued a California driver’s license.  The driver was cited out from Ingleside station on misdemeanor charges.  Report 120374539
