11:30am 4600 Blk Mission St Checks Theft
Officers Morgante and Martinez responded to a report of a suspect attempting to cash a stolen check. The officers made contact with the suspect and detained him. The witness told the officers that he called the place of business regarding the check and was told that the rightful owner of the check was on vacation, and that the check was indeed stolen. The suspect was arrested. Report 110969316
3:34pm Dolores & 30th St Influence of Alcohol
Officer Preston was dispatched to a report of a fight. The victim did not want any further police action. As the officer was talking to the victim, the suspect kept stepping in front of the victim. The officer told the suspect to move away from the victim, but she refused. The suspect smelled strongly of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet. The officer determined that the suspect was unable to care for herself due to her level of intoxication. A records check revealed that the suspect was also wanted on three outstanding warrants. Officers Bernard and Muro responded to a report of theft. The victim said that he had fallen asleep in an abandoned residence. At some point, the victim felt a suspect going through his pockets, but did not wake up completely to see who the suspect was. The victim woke up in the morning and discovered that several items were missing from his pockets. Report 110968841
11:48pm 800 Blk Rutland St Trespassing
Officers Apodaca and Gabriel were dispatched to a report of a person breaking into a residence. While en route, dispatch advised the officers of the description of three suspects. Several other officers responded to the scene and had detained two possible suspects. The officers were unable to contact the original witness that called 911 and found no evidence of any break-ins of surrounding residences. The suspects were released from the scene. Report 110971264
12:30pm Unit Blk Ogden Ave Personation
PSA Heckenberg-Tognozzi took a report regarding false personation. The victim received a call from Nordstrom’s regarding an address change. The victim called Nordstrom’s and told them he never authorized a Nordstrom’s account. About a week later, the victim received a letter from Lowe’s regarding an outstanding balance for over $1,000.00 dollars. The victim had never opened a Lowe’s account. Report 110966889
1:15pm 300 Blk Joost St Theft
Officers Bernard and Martinez responded to a report of attempted fraud. The victim told the officers that she received a phone call from a suspect claiming to be a Wells Fargo employee. The suspect told the victim that someone had stolen $5, 500 from her account. The suspect instructed the victim to go to the bank and take out the same amount in cash and put it in an envelope. The suspect told the victim to hand the envelope over to a man who would be waiting outside of the bank. This man would then continue the investigation into who stole her money. The suspect offered to send a cab to pick the victim up and told the victim to keep the plan secret. The victim called the police after she hung up with the suspect. The suspect called back again and demanded to know when the victim would be going to the bank. Report 110966992
5:15pm 100 Blk Ocean Ave Theft
Officer Brown took a report regarding theft from a vehicle. The victim had gone to a relative’s house and parked her vehicle out front. The victim was in a rush and left her purse in her vehicle and the passenger door open. When she returned to her vehicle, she saw that her purse was open. Several items were taken from inside of the purse. Report 110971208
