San Francisco Police Statement on Las
Vegas Tragedy and
Fleet Week
Preparations
The men and
women of the San Francisco Police Department offer their condolences to those
impacted by Sunday’s tragedy in Las Vegas.
As the City
begins a week of special events, we want to reassure the public that we are
working with our local and federal partners to provide a safe environment for
everyone. The public can expect to see a visible police presence including
officers on foot, motorcycle, on horseback and in patrol cars at the various events
around the City.
The
Department has staffed up for this week’s events with no discretionary time off
allowed for SFPD officers. District stations will be staffed and we will have
additional resources on hand for any spontaneous events. There are no known
threats to the City or any special events. As always, we remind everyone, “If
you see something, say something.” Call 911 to report suspicious activity or
crimes in progress.
Arrests:
9:27pm 2800 Blk. Diamond Robbery
A
woman customer, sitting at a table in a coffee shop, was startled when a man
entered the shop, grabbed her laptop from the table, and fled the store. The
woman, along with a witness, chased the suspect for several blocks until the
suspect got in the passenger side of an older Honda Accord and fled the scene.
She called police and, within the hour, Ingleside Officers Lee and Seavey
spotted the suspect’s vehicle in the 300 block of Arbor. The officers radioed for
assistance and, along with Officers Hardy and Scott, followed the car until
stopping the suspect’s vehicle at Diamond Heights and Addison Streets. The victim
was driven to the arrest scene and positively identified the man who took her
laptop. Both suspects were arrested for robbery and the Honda was towed to
impound. Report number: 170799642
Serious
Incidents:
2:00am 5300 Mission Street Robbery
A
gathering of friends was interrupted by three masked suspects who broke into
the building and robbed the 7 men and women of a significant amount of cash, jewelry
and electronics. All three suspects were
armed and threatened the victims if they didn’t surrender their valuables. They
also wore “Jason” type masks along with gloves. Ingleside Officers Hardy, Dedet, and Dominguez
responded to the scene and interviewed the victims who were fortunately
unharmed. One of the cellphones taken during the robber was recovered by Officers
Scott and Hardy on a footpath near the 2800 block of Alemany. Report number:

7:30pm San Bruno & Arleta Robbery
A
traffic dispute resulted in one driver being robbed and suffering injuries. The
victim told Ingleside Officers Mora, Fitzpatrick, Archilla, Lee, and Seavey
that he was waiting at the entrance to the 7-11 parking lot for a car to leave
a parking space. While waiting another car tried to exit and could not because
the victim was partially in the driveway. The woman driver got out and yelled
at the victim and then kicked the victim’s passenger side door. The victim
exited his car to assess the damage and to confront the suspect. But, when he
did, four other women exited another car which was also waiting to exit and
attacked him forcing him to the ground. The suspects then grabbed his cell
phone and broke his IPad. All four suspects then sped away. Medics were
summoned who treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries. Report number:
