SFPD and San Francisco Planning are working with the operators of the radio tower at the top of Bernal Hill to make security (e.g. fencing upgrades and cameras) and landscaping improvements. This tower hosts antennas for both commercial systems as well as those used for communications by first responders (police and firefighters). The improvements are currently underway by American Tower. The lighting will also be adjusted and placed on a motion-sensor.

We would welcome your help in being an extra set of eyes and ears to discourage vandalism or potential disruption to crucial police and fire communications. If you see something suspicious, please call police dispatch at (415) 553-0123 or in an emergency call (415) 553-8090.

If you have questions about tower itself, please contact the Wireless Planner, Omar Masry, at (415) 575-9116, or Omar.Masry@sfgov.org

Arrests:
6:15pm       100 Blk Excelsior          Stolen Vehicle & Other Felonies
A man who has had several arrests over the past half decade, the most recent involving a robbery in May, was spotted by Ingleside Officers Padilla, Barajas, and Sgt. Alvarez driving a late model stolen Audi SUV east on Excelsior Street. The suspect was on felony probation with a search condition. The officers followed the suspect a short distance until he stopped to park nearby. The officers parked their patrol car next to the vehicle and asked the suspect to step out. But instead of complying, the suspect backed up and struck the patrol car occupied with an officer inside and then struck another passing vehicle containing a man with three young children. The suspect then pulled forward and tried to escape but was stopped after colliding with a traffic pole. The suspect then exited the car and started running away with several officers in pursuit. He was finally arrested after he ran into a nearby pizza parlor and tried to hide in the kitchen. He was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for auto theft, assault on a police officer, and other crimes. The Audi was stolen the day before from an address in the Mission District. Report number: 150911991
