SFPD and San Francisco Planning are working with the operators of the radio tower at the top of Bernal Hill to make security (e.g. fencing upgrades and cameras) and landscaping improvements. This tower hosts antennas for both commercial systems as well as those used for communications by first responders (police and firefighters). The improvements are currently underway by American Tower. The lighting will also be adjusted and placed on a motion-sensor.

We would welcome your help in being an extra set of eyes and ears to discourage vandalism or potential disruption to crucial police and fire communications. If you see something suspicious, please call police dispatch at (415) 553-0123 or in an emergency call (415) 553-8090.

If you have questions about tower itself, please contact the Wireless Planner, Omar Masry, at (415) 575-9116, or Omar.Masry@sfgov.org

Arrests:

1:10pm       London/Excelsior                   Stolen Vehicle

Ingleside Officers Barajas and Alvarez were on routine patrol when they spotted a woman walking on Excelsior Street they had arrested last May for auto theft. They decided to watch her to see if she might have resumed her illegal activities. It wasn’t a long wait as the suspect quickly entered a late model Mercedes that didn’t have a rear license plate. Barajas and Alvarez approached the car and asked the unpleasantly surprised suspect to exit the car. A computer check revealed the Mercedes was reported stolen from a nearby address. A search of the suspect’s purse revealed a valet key for another brand of luxury car along with several spark plugs used to break the windows of vehicles. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for auto theft and possession of burglary tools. The owner of the Mercedes was called and traveled to the scene to recover his vehicle. He told the officers that another vehicle he owned was recently burglarized.  One of the keys to the Mercedes was stolen from that vehicle. Report number: 150908807
