SFPD and San Francisco Planning are working with the operators of the radio tower at the top of Bernal Hill to make security (e.g. fencing upgrades and cameras) and landscaping improvements. This tower hosts antennas for both commercial systems as well as those used for communications by first responders (police and firefighters). The improvements are currently underway by American Tower. The lighting will also be adjusted and placed on a motion-sensor.

We would welcome your help in being an extra set of eyes and ears to discourage vandalism or potential disruption to crucial police and fire communications. If you see something suspicious, please call police dispatch at (415) 553-0123 or in an emergency call (415) 553-8090.

If you have questions about tower itself, please contact the Wireless Planner, Omar Masry, at (415) 575-9116, or Omar.Masry@sfgov.org

Serious Incidents:

12:30am     Unit Blk Stoneybrook             Carjacking
A victim of a carjacking – that took place just outside of his residence – walked into Ingleside Station to file a report. The victim told Officers Adams, Guzman, and Lee that as he was getting out of his car, a suspect approached him with a gun, pointed it towards his face and demanded that he hand over his keys. Fearful for his life, the victim complied with the order and gave his keys to the suspect. While doing so, another suspect came from behind and pushed the victim to the ground. As the victim fell to the floor and tried to look up, a third suspect approached him and continued to beat him with the other two suspects. They took his belongings out of his pockets and fled in the victim’s car. Prior to the victim filing the report, the car was found with significant damage. The vehicle had crashed into a gate near the 3400 Block of Mission Street. Although the incident resulted in abrasions to his face, the victim refused any medical treatment.
