CRIME ALERT: Increase in recent trend of robberies and thefts in and around the Balboa BART Station and City College area,
Be vigilant of suspicious vehicles pulling up and its occupants asking for directions and/or to use your phone and then fleeing the scene with your property.

Arrests:

1:55am       Unit Blk Brazil              Theft
Officers Carrasco and Dominguez responded to a call regarding theft. Upon their arrival, the officers were flagged down by the victim, who told the officers that when he was inside his apartment, he heard noises coming from outside of his apartment. When he looked outside through the window he saw a suspect standing in his truck’s bed. The suspect then got off the truck taking with him a case of motor oil and placed it into a shopping cart. The victim ran out of his apartment and went after the suspect. The victim retrieved his case of motor oil and called “911” for help. When the officers arrived at the scene, the victim pointed at the suspect and said, “The guy who stole my oil is right there!” The officers detained the suspect and performed a computer check to see if there were any prior convictions of petty theft on the suspect, which in this case there were none. The officers then cited the suspect and released him at the scene for petty theft. Report number: 130141243.


3:05pm       400 Blk Argonaut         Assault
Officers Grennell and Fung along with multiple Ingleside units responded to a call regarding a family dispute on the 400 block of Argonaut Avenue. When the officers arrived, they detained both parties involved, who turn out to be two sisters. Both sisters advised the officers that they were inside the kitchen when a verbal argument erupted between them because they were in each other’s way. The heated argument then turned into a physical altercation. During the fight one of the sisters (Suspect #1) grabbed a glass jar and threw it at her sister (Suspect #2), striking her on the head. That sister (Suspect #2) then armed herself with a kitchen knife and lunged at her sister (Suspect #1) attempting to stab her. The sister (Suspect #1) tried to disarm the other sister (Suspect #2) with the knife and cut her hand in the process and then ran away to call for the police. During the investigation, both sisters became uncooperative and refused to cooperate with police. Each sister sustained an injury and was given medical treatment. Both sisters were ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated assault against each other. Report number: 130142661.


3:46pm       100 Blk College            Search Warrant
Officer Kumli was on duty serving a search warrant on the 100 block of College Avenue. Officer Kumli was conducting surveillance, when he noticed the suspect get into his car and drove to the Safeway parking lot at Mission and 30th street. At the parking lot, an unknown female entered the suspect’s car and exited moments later. The suspect then drove back to the 100 block of College and ran back into the residence holding a small bag. Officer Kumli then requested uniformed officers to assist him in serving the search warrant. Officers Archilla along with Altamarino and Thompson arrived at the scene to assist. Officer Kumli showed the copy of the search warrant to the suspect and detained him during the investigation. The officers searched the house looking stolen electronics and/or firearms. During the search, the officers found numerous large bags filled with perfume and designer purses, still with the security tags attached, along with $8,500 in U.S. Currency and several stolen Ipads and Laptops. Officer Archilla seized all the items and placed the suspect under arrest, transporting him to Ingleside Station. The suspect was booked and charged with possession of stolen electronics. Serious Incidents: 

12:01am     700 Blk Silver               Robbery
Officers Marino and Rand were dispatched to call regarding a robbery. Upon arrival, the officers met with the victim who told the officers that he was walking Westbound on Silver towards Cambridge Avenue, when he was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects stopped in front of the victim, pointing a gun at him and told the victim not to move. The suspects checked the victim’s pockets and were unable to find his wallet. The suspects then took the victim’s handbag which had his laptop, glasses and other paperwork inside. The victim fearing for his life gave up all the property and the suspects walked away onto Eastbound Silver Avenue. The officers checked the scene for any cameras to no avail. The victim was not harmed during the incident and he said he will be able to recognize the suspects if he saw them again. Report number: 130142031.

12:20pm     Sawyer/Visitacion         Robbery
Officers Tam and Cortez responded to call regarding robbery. When the officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who stated that she was riding on the MUNI bus. The victim stated that she was standing by the rear door of the bus when she saw three suspects take a seat behind her. The bus stopped at the intersection of Sawyer and Visitacion Avenue, when one of the suspects came from behind and attempted to grab her purse and her Iphone from her hands. The victim struggled to hold on to her property. The suspects were able to take the purse and phone from her. The victim complained that her finger hurt but declined any medical assistance. A copy of the onboard surveillance tape was requested from MUNI. Report number: 130143023.


11:23pm     1600 Blk Church          Robbery
Officers Brown and Ferronato were dispatched to the intersection of Church and Valley Street in regards to robbery. Upon arrival, the officers met with the victim who said she was robbed when she was sitting on the bench listening to her IPod.  The victim noticed the suspect walking towards her. The suspect then pushed her off the bench and grabbed the victims IPod out of her hands. The victim saw the suspect running Southbound on Dolores Street. The victim told the officers that she was not injured and declined any medical assistance. The officers searched the area for any cameras and the suspect to no avail. Report number: 130143891.



CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
