CRIME ALERT: Increase in recent trend of robberies and thefts in and around the Balboa BART Station and City College area,
Be vigilant of suspicious vehicles pulling up and its occupants asking for directions and/or to use your phone and then fleeing the scene with your property.

Arrests:

9:25am       Unit Blk Chenery                    Burglary
Officer Morgante responded to the unit block of Chenery Street on a reported burglary call. Once he arrived, He spoke with both the victim/owner of the residential flat and a witness who happened to be the victim’s mother. The witness told Officer Morgante that she was in from out of town helping her son and his wife care for their newborn child. This morning, she happened to be looking out the front window and observed a suspect acting suspicious from across the street. This suspect walked into an alley in between two buildings then re-appeared, looked both ways, then crossed the street, walking directly towards her son’s garage. The witness then heard a noise that sounded like the suspect was attempting to open the garage door. The witness went and got her son/victim telling him what was occurring. The son immediately went outside and saw the suspect walking away. The son tried to get the suspect’s attention but was ignored. The son then witnessed the suspect trying to get into another gate of another house down the block but was unsuccessful. The suspect then turned the corner out of the victim’s view.  Officer Morgante broadcasted the suspect’s description, who was quickly detained not too far away by Officers Park and Chang. Both the victim and witness identified the suspect as the one trying to gain entry into their garage area. The suspect was arrest and transported back to Ingleside Station. During a booking search, Officer Chang found methamphetamine on the suspect’s person, thus adding another charge. The suspect was then interviewed and booked for the attempted burglary and drug possession. Report Number: 130138870

7:05pm       5400 Blk Mission                    Warrant
Officers Naval and Morrow were on routine patrol headed Southbound on Mission Street when they observed a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction (Northbound) make an illegal U-turn, cutting off a vehicle that was next to him and cutting off the officers’ vehicle as well. The officers immediately conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver. After a computer check, it was revealed that the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest as well as having a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested and taken into custody. His vehicle was left legally parked along Mission Street. Once at Ingleside Station, the driver was booked accordingly for the outstanding warrant, driving with a suspended license and making an illegal U-turn in a business district. Serious Incidents:

3:15pm       Sunnydale/Santos                     Theft
A citizen walked into Ingleside Station and told Police Service Aide, Flynn, that she was a victim of a theft. The victim said she was a passenger aboard an 8X MUNI bus. She said she was seated towards the rear of the bus, while holding her Iphone in her hands and texting. When the bus approached the intersection of Sunnydale and Santos Street, and Unknown suspect grabbed her Iphone from her hands and ran out the rear exit doors. The victim said she was shocked as to what had just occurred and did not see which direction the suspect fled. The victim was not injured in the incident. MUNI was contacted in an attempt to collect the surveillance video. Report Number: 130140148

9:41pm       Raymond/Rutland                    Robbery
Officers Padilla and To were dispatched to the 100 Block of Raymond Avenue regarding a robbery call. When they arrived, they met with the victim, who said she was a passenger on an outbound 8X MUNI bus. The victim said she got off the bus at Visitacion and Rutland Avenue and noticed a suspect following her. As the victim continued to walk, she looked back, and saw that the same suspect was still following her. The victim said she felt afraid, so she called her father using her cell phone. When the victim approached the intersection of Rutland and Raymond Avenue, the suspect ran up behind her, pushed her to the ground and punched her once on the left side of her head. The suspect then grabbed her phone out of her hands and ran off. A witness in the area heard someone screaming and went to investigate. When he got close, the witness approached the suspect, but the suspect said, “Don’t try to stop me. I got a gun. I’ll use it on you”, and immediately ran away. The victim was not seriously hurt and refused any medical attention. Report Number: 130140803



CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
