Arrests:

2:03am       Brazil/La Grande                    Stolen Vehicle
Officers Hauscarriague and Sutton were on routine patrol when they spotted a Silver Mazda with paper license plates parked on the street. The driver’s side window was covered in condensation. The officers slowly exited their patrol car and walked up to the vehicle where they observed two occupants, a man and woman, asleep in the car. Officer Hauscarriague recognized the driver from previous contacts for auto theft. The officers quietly returned to their patrol car and broadcasted the vehicle identification number to dispatch who confirmed the vehicle was stolen. The officers returned to the stolen vehicle and noticed the occupants were awakening from their slumber. Both suspects were ordered out of the car and placed in handcuffs. The driver, who was on felony parole, was arrested and charged with auto theft. The passenger was released at the scene and the vehicle was towed. Report number: 130078044

Serious Incidents:

10:50am     200 Blk Schwerin                  Assault
Officers Gordon and Pereira, along with several other Ingleside officers, were dispatched to 200 block of Schwerin Street after a local security firm reported gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, the officers did not find any victims but they did discover almost a dozen nine millimeter shell casings on the ground. An employee of the security firm was unable to describe the shooters, however he did have security video of the suspects but not of them firing their weapons. Security camera video from another nearby location showed a late model Mercedes slowly driving down the street and  two men, among a group of four standing on the corner, pulling out handguns and firing their weapons at the fleeing Mercedes. Both videos were turned over to the Ingleside Investigative Team for additional review. Report number: 130133030

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
