11:02pm Mission/Valencia Driving Under the Influence
Officers Pedersen and Jones were on routine patrol when they noticed a vehicle stopped in the traffic lanes with its emergency flashers on. A pedestrian was talking through the passenger window to the driver. As the officers approached, the vehicle pulled away still with its emergency flashers on. A short time later, the vehicle stopped again in the traffic lane while the driver unsuccessfully attempted to hail another pedestrian. The vehicle then pulled away with the driver turning off the emergency flashers. After reaching the intersection of Valencia and Mission Street, the driver attempted an unsafe left turn, in front of oncoming traffic, nearly causing a collision. The officers followed the vehicle into a local business parking lot and conducted a traffic stop. When approached by the officers, the driver of the vehicle claimed she “was lost”, and was stopping pedestrians to ask for directions to a local club. The officers, smelling alcohol on her breath, asked for her license, insurance and registration. The driver stated that “she was ok”, and asked to, “call her husband or a cab”. The officers again asked for her paperwork and, after more searching, the driver found the documents. The officers asked her to step out of her car and questioned how much she had to drink that evening. She said only a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. She declined to participate in a field sobriety test and persisted with her request to call her husband so she could go home. She was transported to County Jail where a blood test was performed. She was later booked for driving while under the influence. Report number: 130132010
2:00am 3400 Blk Mission Assault
Officers Lozano and McCall were dispatched to the intersection of 30th and Mission Street to investigate a report of an assault. The victim, who had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, had blood on his face and clothing. He told the officers he was struck on the head with a bottle by a woman sitting next to him at a local bar. He said he did not know the name of the woman who hit him. An ambulance was called and the victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment. Report number: 130129540
Officers McMilton and Peregrina, along with several additional Ingleside Officers were sent to the 300 Block of 27th Street after several citizens called police about a robbery. Upon arrival, the officers found two victims, bleeding from several wounds, at a home that was ransacked. One of the victims told the officer that he was awoken by two unknown suspects beating him. He tried fighting back but the suspects continued the assault before tying him up. The other resident arrived home during the robbery and was also assaulted by the suspects. Both victims claimed the suspects attacked them with a hatchet before stealing several items, including a large amount of jewelry. The victims were taken by ambulance to S.F. General Hospital with severe injuries. Several officers canvassed the surrounding area, interviewing neighbors, about the crime. Other officers searched the area for suspects without success. Report number: 130132060
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.
Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket: This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.
Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
