Starting with this Crime newsletter, I will periodically be putting out crime alerts for the community.
Emerging Crime Trends—Please be aware of a recent spate of thefts where females drive up in cars, ask to use your cell phone—and then drive away with it. The cars have been described as a red or gold 4-Door car.
Attention Mazda Miata owners—recently, there have been thefts whereby the thief has stolen the entire hard top of the car.

Arrests:
12:03pm 200 Blk Rey St Warrant
Officers Altamirano and Thompson were dispatched to a report of violation of a restraining order. The victim told the officers that she had a restraining order against the suspect, who was inside her residence. The officers confirmed via a records check that the order was active and current. The suspect was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. The officers made contact with the suspect and took him into custody without further incident. The suspect was booked at Ingleside station. 1:39pm 29th & Day St Warrant
Officer Chew responded to a vehicle accident. The driver and passenger of one of vehicles involved fled the scene prior to Officer Chew’s arrival. A witness flagged down Officer Martinez and pointed out one of the suspects. The suspect had asked the witness to hide her from the police. Officer Martinez contacted the suspect, who told him that she was just the passenger of the vehicle and was getting a ride from the second suspect. She claimed not to know who the driver was. A records check revealed that the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The suspect was treated for minor injuries from the accident and booked into county jail. Report 120346077
3:20pm Unit Blk Phelan Ave Battery
SFCCPD Officer Burlyga was dispatched to a report of a fight involving several subjects. The officer arrived on scene and was told by witnesses that a fight had just occurred in the men’s restroom. The officer located a victim. The victim said that while he was in the restroom, the suspect rushed him and attempted to punch him. The victim was able to block the punch and accidentally hit the suspect in the eye. The suspect challenged the victim to a fight, but the victim refused. The victim left the restroom and began to walk away but the suspect grabbed the victim’s shirt to hold him back, and kicked him. The victim then retreated into another men’s restroom, and the suspect followed. This time, the suspect called out to two other suspects, who also entered the restroom. All three suspects punched and kicked the victim repeatedly. The suspects fled.
Officer Green contacted one of the suspects, who was identified as the first suspect involved in the incident. The victim wanted to press charges for battery and signed a citizen’s arrest against the suspect. The suspect was cited for misdemeanor battery. Report 120346033
5:43pm 300 Blk Naples St Stolen Vehicle
Officers Hurwitz and Tam were on patrol in an unmarked vehicle, working in plain clothes. The officers spotted an older model vehicle traveling in their direction. A records check of the vehicle revealed that it was reported as stolen. The officers began to follow behind the vehicle and requested a marked patrol unit to conduct a traffic stop. The officers noticed that the driver looked at the rearview mirror directly at them. The two passengers then turned around and looked back at them. The vehicle suddenly pulled over to the side of the road. The officers activated the red light on their unmarked vehicle, and sounded the siren. A marked patrol unit arrived on scene shortly after.
The officers detained all three occupants of the vehicle and verified through the VIN number that it had been reported stolen. The officers seized suspected narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia from inside the vehicle. The driver and one passenger were booked on felony charges. One passenger was released from the scene. 8:02pm Unit Blk Blythdale Ave Warrant
Officers Antonian and Khan were on patrol when they pulled into a parking lot and stopped briefly. Officer Antonian saw a suspect exit a vehicle that he recognized from prior police contact. The officer believed the suspect had an outstanding warrant, which he confirmed through a records check. The officers exited their vehicle and took the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect was booked at Ingleside station. Report 110535036

7:20am Unit Blk Phelan Ave Vandalism
CCSFPD Officer Hadi responded to a report of vandalism on campus. The officer located three windows on a campus building had been smashed. A witness reported hearing the glass break, but did not see who caused the damage. Report 120344623
9:23am 200 Blk 30th St Burglary
Officers Martinez was dispatched to a report of burglary. The witness had arrived at work and got into the elevator that took her to the second floor. When the doors of the elevator opened, the witness saw the suspect standing in the hallway. The witness immediately ran to her office and locked the door. A second witness arrived and saw the suspect. He asked the suspect what he was doing, and the suspect told the witness that he was lost. The second witness escorted the suspect out of the building. Officer Martinez viewed the surveillance footage, which showed the suspect prying the door open to gain access into the building. Several items were later found stolen. Report 120344946
10:11am San Jose & Cotter Theft
PSA Zabarte took a report regarding theft from a vehicle. The victim had parked her vehicle and secured it. Upon returned, she discovered the vehicle was unlocked and several items were stolen. There was no visible damage to the vehicle. Report 120344974
12:24pm Unit Blk Phelan Ave Theft
SFCCPD Officer Boyko took a report regarding theft. The victim placed his personal belongings into a locker and secured it using a combination padlock. When the victim returned, the lock had been tampered with and his personal belongings were missing. Some of the victim’s personal belongings were recovered outside of the locker room a couple hours later. Report 120345433
1:40pm Unit Blk Ina Ct Theft
Officer Morrow responded to a theft report. The victim had been in possession of several guns that had belonged to her deceased husband. The guns were reportedly in a downstairs room of the residence, contained in a case. The victim and two other family members last remembered seeing the guns about three or four years ago. The officer found no signs of forced entry, and the family did not indicate they were aware of any burglary attempts to the residence. The victim believed that a caretaker may have stolen the weapons. Report 120342871
5:00pm 700 Blk Cortland Ave Fraud
Officers Leong and Castillo were dispatched to an eating establishment regarding suspects who refused to pay for their food. The officers contacted the victim, who owns the restaurant. The victim said three suspects entered the restaurant and placed an order. The victim left the premise briefly to go to the bank. When she returned, a witness informed her that the suspects had left without paying for their food. The witness told the officers that the suspects had consumed their food, and then walked out of the restaurant without leaving any money on the table. The witness tried to stop them, but the suspects ran to a vehicle and fled. Report 120346243
6:53pm 200 Blk Chicago Way Theft
Officers Paras and Shugars responded to what was reported as a robbery. The victim told the officers that he was walking his dog when a vehicle pulled up alongside him. The passenger suspect in the vehicle asked the victim if she could use his cell phone to make a phone call. The victim handed the suspect the phone, and she began to dial a number. The driver of the vehicle suddenly accelerated and both suspects fled. Report 120346613
7:50pm 1100 Blk Geneva Ave Vandalism
Officer Shugars and Paras dispatched to a report of vandalism. The victim secured the premise prior to leaving on April 30th in the evening. Upon his return, the victim discovered damage to the front window. There was a hole in the window consistent with the shape a bullet would make. Report 120346732
11:10pm 300 Blk Sussex St Burglary
Officers Baldovino and Contreras were dispatched to a burglary report. The victim secured his residence prior to leaving in the afternoon. Upon his return later in the evening, the victim entered his residence and realized that several of his personal items had been stolen. The victim believed that the suspect may have entered through one of two windows, but the officers were unable to find any evidence of forced entry at either window. The victim told the officers that the only person with access to his residence is the person he hires to clean it. Report 120346992
11:45pm Alemany & Silver Ave Robbery
Officers Dominguez and Carrasco responded to a robbery. The victim was walking from the Glen Park Bart station headed home. The victim had ear buds in his ears and was listening to music from his cell phone. A suspect approached him and said something, but the victim was unable to hear what the suspect said because his music was turned up loud. The suspect pointed a silver handgun at the victim’s stomach. The suspect pulled the victim’s messenger bag off of his shoulder and demanded his iPod. The victim handed the suspect his cell phone. The suspect fled. Report 120347031
