Arrests:

12:30am     300 Blk. Athens                                Theft
A Lyft customer exited the car at the destination and realized she had left her IPhone 7 in the Lyft driver’s car. A few minutes later, the customer received a message on her mother’s phone saying the person texting had her phone. The text said he would return the phone for a price. The customer offered $100, but the thief texted back he would return it for $350 if she went to a home on the 300 block of Athens Street and leave the $350 in the mailbox. The witness called police and Ingleside Officers Dilag, Sherry and Stoffel drove to the address and knocked on the door of the home. The Lyft driver answered the door and admitted he had the customer’s cellphone. He was cited for grand larceny and theft after the victim signed a citizen’s arrest form. Report number: 170916614

The officers activated their emergency lights and siren and stopped the driver near Virginia and Prospect. The driver was ordered out of the Acura and place in handcuffs. 3:45pm       100 Blk. Mateo                                Hot Prowl Burglary
Quick police work along with help from workmen, neighbors, and the victim helped Ingleside officers arrest a burglary suspect. The suspect was riding his bicycle past a home construction project when he suddenly jumped off his bike, ran into an open garage, and quickly grabbed two backpacks, containing laptop computers, then ran outside. Two construction workers, parked outside, saw the suspect and alerted the homeowner who was upstairs from the garage. The homeowner chased the suspect, who abandoned his bike, down Mateo and Miguel and eventually to San Jose Avenue where a struggled ensued between the suspect and the homeowner in the middle of the street. The suspect abandoned his stolen property and was still trying to escape when Ingleside Officers Dungca, Calupad, along with Ingleside Captain Hart arrived and placed the suspect in custody. He was driven back to the burglarized home where the two workmen confirmed he was the suspect who stole the backpacks from the garage.
