Traffic
Safety Enforcement Operations Plan for
San
Francisco with OTS Grant
The San Francisco Police Department will conduct Traffic
Safety Enforcement Operations on June 1st, 9th, 12th, 20th and 27th with a
focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety. Over the past three years, the
department has identified areas where significant numbers of pedestrian and
bicycle-related collisions have occurred and responded by deploying additional officers
to those areas in an effort to prevent deaths and injuries. Special attention
will be given to Focus on the Five violations: excessive and unsafe speed,
unsafe turns, failure to stop for signs and signals, failure to yield to
pedestrians in cross walks, as well as any other dangerous violation.
San Francisco is committed to eliminating traffic deaths on
our streets by 2024 as part of Vision Zero SF. Vision Zero SF is our city’s
commitment to prioritize safe streets for everyone.
Bicycle and pedestrian fatalities are rising in California
as more people use these non-motorized means of transportation. In 2013,
California witnessed 701 pedestrians and 141 bicyclists killed, accounting for
more than 28 percent of all traffic fatalities.
All riders are reminded to always wear a helmet – those
under 18 years of age must wear helmets by law. Pedestrians should cross the
street only in marked or unmarked crosswalks at corners. All motorists are
reminded to be mindful of others who share the road.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the
California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.

A landlord-tenant
dispute prompted an arrest for vandalism, trespassing, and malicious mischief.
Ingleside officers McCall, Lozano, George, Fogarty, Cagney, and Casssinelli
responded to the address and found the landlord outside the residence near a
broken front door and door jam. Inside was the tenant who told the officers he
was illegally evicted from the home. The officers arrested the suspect for
vandalism, trespassing, and malicious mischief after being given copies of
court documents by the landlord. Report number: 170455985
Serious Incidents:
2:00am 4200 Blk. Folsom Attempted Burglary
A woman woke up her husband telling him she heard someone
trying to open their garage door. The husband, not hearing anything, went back
to sleep. The next morning the couple tried to open the garage door but it was
jammed. They called police and Ingleside officers Quinlan and Siracusa arrived
and inspected the garage door where suspects might have tried to force the door
open. The homeowners were able to finally open the door and found nothing
missing. Report number: 170458008

Evading Police
Ingleside officers Lozano and McCall were on routine patrol

their emergency lights at Seneca and Cayuga. The cyclist took off at a high
rate of speed south on Cayuga crossing Geneva. The officers, fearing for public
safety, shut down their pursuit. Report number: 170458309
