Blk Mission Possession of a
Firearm
Sgt Ly was on duty when he
decided to patrol the Safeway parking lot located on the 3300 block of Mission
Street. While driving through he noticed a suspicious vehicle, with two
occupants inside, parked way in the back of the parking lot. Sgt Ly ran the
license plate which showed it had an expired registration as of July 2015, but
the vehicle was displaying a 2016 tab on the rear license plate. Once back up
arrived, Sgt Ly spoke with the two occupants and found out that the vehicle
belonged to the driver’s girlfriend. Due to the registration violation, Sgt Ly
seized the license plate and was going to tow the vehicle. He had the occupants
step out of the vehicle and proceeded to do an inventory search. Inside the
vehicle he found a fully loaded revolver that was concealed inside a computer
bag that belonged to the driver along with an open alcohol container on the
passenger side. The driver was ultimately charged and booked on multiple felony
charges. The passenger was cited and released for having the open container.
