Arrests:

12:37pm     500 Blk College                      Burglary
A burglary suspect tried to outrun police and almost certain death. He succeeded in accomplishing one goal. Ingleside Officers Burke and Tien were dispatched to a report of a burglary at a home on the 500 block of College. When they arrived they saw the suspect walking out of the residence with a laundry bag full of stolen items. The officers pulled their weapons and ordered him to put his hands up. The suspect yelled “oh s..t”, and ran back in the home. Seconds later the officers heard the sound of glass breaking in the backyard and Ingleside Officer Burke broadcast a call that he was in foot pursuit of the suspect south on Justin Drive heading toward the #280 freeway. Ingleside Officers Lewis and Trujillo arrived to aid in the pursuit. Officer Burke radioed that the suspect had jumped down a 50 foot wall and now was running in the southbound lanes of the freeway. He jumped over the center divider and continued running in the northbound freeway lanes until he jumped over a fence in an attempt to escape onto Alemany Blvd. More Ingleside officers arrived to help with the pursuit including Lim, Trail, Barranti, and Chang. Officer Trail found the suspect hiding in the bushes between Alemany Blvd. and Trumbull Streets. During the arrest he complained of shortness of breath so an ambulance was summoned which took the suspect to San Francisco General for treatment and was later booked at the county jail. The homeowner recovered her stolen items, which were left by the suspect in her backyard during his attempted escape. A computer check revealed the suspect was out on bail for burglary and other crimes. Report number: 160294953
