Arrests:

2:53am       30th/San Jose                    Stolen Vehicle                                                 An older model Nissan Quest, traveling North on Mission Street near 30th Street caught the attention of Ingleside Officers Carew and Stark. Older Nissans, Toyotas, and Hondas are the favorite target of auto thieves. The officers contacted dispatch who confirmed that the Nissan was stolen the day before from an address in the Crocker Amazon. The officers followed the stolen car for a short while until the thief pulled into the Safeway parking lot. There, with the help, of other Ingleside units. Carew and Stark were able to place the car thief in custody. They also seized a backpack containing burglary tools from the back seat. Report number: 150681376


4:30pm         Geneva/San Jose               Theft                                                                          A thief was apprehended thanks to the help of two MUNI employees. The victim told Ingleside Officers Paras and Shugars that he was waiting for the bus at Geneva and San Jose when he put down his backpack on the sidewalk next to him. Just then, a man walking by picked up the backpack and started walking away eastbound. The victim tried to retrieve his backpack but the suspect swung it at him and continued walking away. Two MUNI workers, witnessing the theft, started following the suspect from a distance while calling police. The suspect abandoned the stolen backpack at Geneva and Delano but kept walking eastbound. Officers Paras and Shugars caught up with the suspect and placed him under arrest. Report number: 150684552

A potential robbery victim was able to escape unharmed thanks to the incompetence of the two would be robbers. The victim told Ingleside Officers Lozano and Hermosura that he was walking from his home to his car at Paris and Russia streets when he was approached by two men. One of the men told him to “Stop”. The suspect was holding a black semi-automatic weapon while pointing it at the victim. In the next instant, the gun’s magazine clip fell to the ground and when the suspect bent to pick it up, the victim sprinted away and ran into a nearby restaurant where he called 911.
