Arrests:

4:43pm       900 Blk Edinburgh                 Arson
An angry tenant served with an eviction notice decided to set his apartment on fire. The landlord first realized there was trouble from his downstairs tenant when the tenant started breaking items in his home and screaming at the top of his lungs. Then the landlord smelled smoke and decided to call 911 for help. Ingleside Officers Paras and Watts soon arrived along with the fire department which extinguished several small blazes inside the tenant’s apartment. The officers discovered several burn marks around the interior of the apartment caused by the tenant igniting cardboard and other flammable objects on the floor and stove. The officers attempted to place the suspect in custody but he violently resisted and Ingleside Officers Ng, Bryant, Ellston, and Parker arrived to help with the arrest. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for arson. The SFPD Arson Rask Force is continuing the investigation. Report number: 150398208

6:27pm       100 Blk Blythedale                 Stolen Vehicle
A brand new Toyota Corolla, without license plates, and driven by a known miscreant caught the attention of Ingleside Officers Padilla, Barajas, and Sgt. Alvarez. The officers were on routine patrol when they spotted the car and the driver trying to park the Corolla in parking space. When the suspect noticed the officers he immediately pulled out of the space, drove onto the sidewalk, and down a nearby alley in an effort to escape capture. The officers, in their patrol vehicle, stayed close. The suspect abandoned the vehicle, exited the car, and started running away carrying a backpack. The officers yelled, “stop police”, but the suspect continued running until he was cornered near a residence on the 100 block of Blythedale. He was placed in custody and a search of the backpack revealed an illegal baton, a quantity of methamphetamine, and shaved keys used to steal vehicles. A check of the Corolla’s VIN revealed it was stolen last month. The unlicensed suspect was taken to Ingleside Station and booked on a variety of charges. Report number: 150398769

Serious Incidents:

1:25pm       700 Blk Ocean                        Assault of a Police Officer
Ingleside Officers Naval and Morrow were dispatched to a school after the principal called dispatch about the strange behavior of a parent waiting for his daughter at the end of the school day. The school administrator said the parent was sitting in his car at the front of the school yelling his daughter’s name and honking the vehicle’s horn. Officer Naval and Morrow arrived and Officer Morrow approached the vehicle to talk to the parent but the parent quickly drove away. The father then drove back several times in front of the school but didn’t stop. Finally, after almost a dozen passes, the parent was stuck in heavy traffic. Officer Morrow approached the passenger side of the parent’s vehicle and the driver, took out a can of pepper spray, doused Officer Morrow in the face through the open passenger window, before quickly driving away. Officer Morrow ran back to his police car and he and Officer Naval started pursuing the parent. The chase went westbound on Ocean, then northbound on Junipero Serra, to westbound on Sloat, then southbound on the Great Highway, to southbound on Skyline, where, for safety reasons, the pursuit was terminated. Officers Naval and Morrow traveled back to the school and interviewed school officials and the student’s mother. Some days later the suspect was arrested at a different location. Reports number: 150397658/150397658.
