Santos Weapon
Merchants and residents of the area around the
intersection of Geneva and Santos have, for some time, complained to police
about people standing around and consuming alcoholic beverages. On this day,
Ingleside Officers Tillan and Ng, who have patrolled the area for the past
several years, spotted a group of half a dozen men standing on the corner and
drinking alcoholic beverages. When the officers stopped to question the group,
one of the men suddenly started running away. Officer Ng pursued him on foot
while Officer Tillan chased him in the patrol car. When the subject reached
Velasco Street the suspect removed a handgun from his waistband and threw it
over a fence into the adjacent child development center. Officer Ng, along with
the help of Officers Phillips, Hart, and Tillan were able to catch the suspect and
place him in custody after a brief struggle. A search of his clothing revealed
a quantity of methamphetamine. The firearm was found in a courtyard of the
childcare facility. The suspect was taken to Ingleside station and booked on

Ingleside Officers Siracusa and Bernard were on routine
patrol in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood when they heard gunshots. The
officers advised dispatch and started searching the area, along with more than
half a dozen other Ingleside officers, for the source of the gunshots. At the
intersection of Sunnydale and Hahn the officers were approached by a witness
who said that, a short time before, one of three men standing at the
intersection fired several shots from a handgun at a passing white sedan.
