The incident started when a woman and her daughter in a stroller were waiting for a bus near the City College campus. The victim noticed a woman pacing near the bus stop. The victim moved away but not far enough as the suspect suddenly attacked her with pepper spray and then punched her in the side of her face before grabbing her purse and running off. A delivery driver, passing by, witnessed the assault and robbery and stopped his vehicle to pursue the robber. He stopped his pursuit when he noticed a young man ahead of him also chasing after the robber while on a cell phone calling police. The woman robber ran onto the City College Campus where City College Police Officer Gaytan picked up the pursuit finally cornering the suspect on an outside stairwell. The woman suspect dropped the two bags she was holding and pulled out a weapon which turned out to be an air gun and dropped it on the ground. The suspect was tackled and, with the help of Ingleside Officer Bernard, placed in handcuffs. A search of her clothing revealed another air gun and six steak knives hidden in her wig. The victim was brought to the arrest scene and positively identified the suspect as the woman who stole her purse.
