Arrests:

6:07am       1400 Blk Geneva                    Hot Prowl Burglary
A burglary suspect picked the wrong house to burglarize at six o’clock in the morning. As Officer Morrow, Sgt Springer and Sgt Walker arrived they found a woman in front of the residence frantically waiving them down and stating, “He’s in the house!” The officers rushed in and found several family members holding and sitting on the suspect, who was face down on the living room couch. The suspect was bleeding from his head and face from being beaten in self-defense by the residents inside. The family said they heard a loud crash coming from the upstairs kitchen area and went to investigate. To their surprise they found the suspect inside their home. They quickly reacted and closed the door barricading the suspect inside the room. The suspect tried to force his way through the door, but the family members armed themselves with wooden sticks and a pair of pliers and began defending themselves striking the suspect numerous times. The family members were too much for the suspect and they were able to subdue him until the police arrived where he was taken into custody. The suspects excuse, “I was being chased by two guys with guns and they were going to kill me. I know this is not my house, but I had to get in. I jumped the fence and knocked on the door. They wouldn’t let me in, so I broke the window and climbed in. I didn’t care”.  The suspect was taken to the local hospital for his injuries then booked on 1st degree burglary.
