training from the San Francisco Fire Department in how to help yourself and
your neighbors prepare for and respond to a disaster by working together. The
20-hour training, taught by First Responders, includes personal preparedness,
light search and rescue, disaster medicine, shutting off your utilities, and
how to participate as a member of a neighborhood response team. NERT also offers continuing training for
graduates and activities that support building robust neighborhood teams. For more information, visit the NERT website

Are you someone who is interested in disaster preparedness and wants to help out your community while working hand in hand with law enforcement? Then the ALERT program is for you!
What is the
A.L.E.R.T. Program?
The San Francisco Police Department has developed a
volunteer citizen disaster preparedness program. The Auxiliary Law Enforcement
Response Team (ALERT) is modeled after and works in partnership with the San
Francisco Fire Department's Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT). The
ALERT program will train members of the public to assist law enforcement in
essential tasks after a major disaster. Such tasks may include: traffic
control, foot patrol of business and residential areas, and reporting criminal
activity. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and live, work, or attend
high school in San Francisco.
Three steps to becoming an
A.L.E.R.T. volunteer:
1. Complete NERT training and receive
certification. To register for NERT training courses please visit www.sfgov.org/sfnert
2. Once NERT certified, forward a copy
of your NERT ID card to the ALERT program. sfpdalert@sfov.org
3. After clearing a basic background
check the individual is eligible to register for ALERT training.
Arrests
1:33am 300
Blk Arbor Drugs
A resident called police to report men, wearing ski masks,
were attempting to break into his home.
It was a “$20K hit” paid to unknown persons by unknown persons to kill
him. It was the second time in two days that the same man, at the same address,
reported the same crime. The day before officers inspected the premises and found
no evidence of attempted break in. This
day, Ingleside Officers Noble, Bautista, Casey, Quema, and Hermorsura performed
another home inspection and again, found no merit to the call. A computer check
revealed the caller was on felony probation for narcotics with a search
condition. The officers searched the home and found a quantity of
methamphetamine in one of the bedrooms along with a pipe used to smoke the
narcotic. The resident was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for possession
of narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia. Report number: 140838719
Serious Incidents
12:49pm Alemany/Onondaga Evading Police
Ingleside Officer Baldovino noticed a vehicle with no brake
lights in front of his patrol car driving on Alemany near Onondaga Streets.
Officer Baldovino turned on his lights and siren and pulled the car over. When
he exited his patrol car and started walking up to the driver side window, the
vehicle suddenly sped away. Officer Baldovino radioed the vehicle license
number to dispatch and said he was not in pursuit. Baldovino returned to
Ingleside Station and was filling out a report when communications notified him
that the vehicle was found on Eastmoor Drive in Daly City. Officer Baldovino traveled to Daly City and
met with a Daly City officer who had detained the owner. She told both officers
that she was doing her laundry at a business on Mission Street when two males
drove up in her vehicle and said, “See ya, good bye”. She said she believed
those were the occupants of her car when Officer Baldovino pulled it over.
After she finished her laundry she went to her cousin’s home on Eastmoor and
dropped off her laundry. She said she was confused and scared and gave no
reason why she didn’t report her stolen car to police. Report number: 140839676
9:00pm Sunnydale/Hahn Robbery
A man walking home from a bus stop was attacked and robbed
by three men. The victim told Ingleside Officers Dominguez, Kelley, and Casey
that he had just got off the #8 Muni bus when one of the three men put a gun to
his head and said, “Give it up”. The other suspects pushed him to the ground
and removed his backpack before searching his pants pockets and taking his
wallet and cell phone. After removing his property, one of the suspects pistol
whipped the victim on the side of his head. All three then ran away in an
unknown direction. Report number: 140841386

Blk Santos Robbery
A man walking into his home was robbed of his cell phone.
The victim told Ingleside Officers Casey and O’Connor that he had just placed
the key in his home’s lock when three men, two armed with guns, punched him in
the head and pushed him inside. Two suspects held the victim down while a third
took a phone from his hand. One of the suspects went into the kitchen but
didn’t take any property. All three then ran away in an unknown direction. The
suspects may be the same men wanted for similar robberies within two blocks of
