Arrests:

4:08pm       5600 Blk Mission                   Probation Violation
Officers Cassinelli, Almaguer and Hom were on patrol and conducting surveillance on the 5600 block of Mission Street. The officers observed a suspect, who they knew to be on active felony probation with a warrantless search condition, pull into a parking lot and go into an unknown room of the Hotel. The officers spoke with the staff member, who told them which room the suspect was staying in. The officers went to his room and a female responded to the door. Later the officers told the suspect that they were going to conduct a probation search of his room. The suspect understood and complied with the officers instructions. During the search, the officers located a boot in which they found a clear bag containing ten unspent bullets, which was a violation of his probation. The officers arrested the male suspect and transported him to Ingleside station and charged accordingly. The female suspect was issued a citation for initially lying to the officers and giving them a false name. She was later released. Report Number: 130181562.

Serious Incidents:

12:24pm     Schwerin/Sunnydale               Vehicle Registration
Officers Uang and Hopkins were on patrol, when they came across a vehicle with expired registration, but the vehicle’s license plate reflected an Orange 2013 tab. The officers stopped the vehicle at the corner of Sunnydale and Cora Street. The officers made contact with the driver and asked for his driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. The driver told the officers that he didn’t have California’s driver license. The officers confirmed the driver’s identity and conducted a computer check on his license status. The results showed that the driver was never issued a California driver’s license. Officer Uang seized the rear license plate of the vehicle and booked it as evidence. The driver was cited for driving without a license and released at the scene. His vehicle was towed for displaying a false registration. Report Number: 130180934.

8:50pm       100 Blk Appleton                    Theft
Officers Jones and Campos responded to the intersections of Crescent Street and Folsom Street in regards to a theft. Upon arrival, the officers met with the victim who said that he went to the 100 block of Appleton to sell his Go Ped, which is an electric scooter. The victim arranged a meeting with the suspect and agreed to sell it for $400. The suspect paid the victim with 4 counterfeit one hundred dollar bills. The victim counted the money and realized that it was counterfeit and confronted the suspect. The suspect told the victim, “it is what it is”, and fled Southbound on Folsom Street on the Go Ped and later got into a Ford Sedan. The victim attempted to pursue the suspect, but was unable to catch him. Officer Campos seized the counterfeit money from the victim for evidence. The officers searched the area for the suspects to no avail. Report Number: 130182479.

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
