Arrests:
3:12pm Mansell/Visitacion Driving Under the Influence
Officer Hurwitz responded to a call regarding a vehicle accident in the area of Mansell and Visitacion Avenue, which is located inside John Mclaren Park. When she arrived, she saw a vehicle over turned in the center median of Mansell Street. Officer Morse had informed Officer Hurwitz that the driver and passenger had fled the vehicle, but had been detained in the area by additional Ingleside Officers. Officers Uang and Hopkins was the first unit to arrive and were directed by multiple bystanders, who were pointing towards the park, that the occupants just fled from the scene. The officers looked towards that direction and saw a suspect running away from the accident. The officer gave chase and pursued the subject for approximately 300 yards until they caught up to him and took him into custody. They noticed that this subject had fresh blood on the right side of his face and on his left arm. They also noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from this same suspect. Officer Peregoy searched the area for the remaining subject and located him across the park at Wayland and Yale Streets. This subject also was bleeding from the top of his head. This subject informed Officer Peregoy that he was the passenger in the car that had rolled over and that his cousin was the driver. The passenger said that his cousin picked him up and noticed that he was intoxicated. His cousin was driving erratically, when he hit the guard rail and flipped the car over. Both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver was then charged and booked for driving under the influence along with additional charges. Report Number 121041359.
