8:47pm       Alemany/Trumbull       Evading Police
Officer Preston was assisting Officer Johnson on an arrest that she had just made on the 3900 block of Mission Street, when they observed a White pick-up truck traveling at a high rate of speed as it headed South on Mission Street. Officer Preston was concerned about public safety due to the time of day, the amount of traffic and the excessive speed exhibited by the driver. Officer Preston was able to catch up to the White pick-up truck and effected a traffic stop. The driver of the pick-up truck failed to pull over and continued at a high rate of speed. Based on the reckless actions of the driver, Officer Preston determined that it was not worth the danger so he discontinued his pursuit. Later in the day, Bayview units notified Officer Preston that they located the vehicle, which had now been abandoned at Pennsylvania and 19th Street. Officer Preston along with Officer Almaguer conducted further investigation and found out the identity of the driver, who was wanted on a warrant, parole and had a suspended driver’s license.
