1:06am Mission/Trumbull Grand Theft
Officers Dominguez and Carrasco were traveling on Mission Street at 1:06 in the morning on routine patrol, when they observed a Ford Crown Victoria parked on the side of the road. Both officers saw that the vehicle was occupied with two subjects, a driver and front passenger. As both officers passed the vehicle, Officer Carrasco conducted a computer check on the license plate, which showed the vehicle to be reported stolen. The officers then took action and conducted a felony traffic stop and removed both subjects without incident. Officer Dominguez interviewed the driver, who stated he had traded his non-working Chevy for the Ford Crown Victoria he was in. The driver told the officer that he suspected the Ford might have been a stolen car because there was no proper paper work for it. The passenger was then interviewed, who told Officer Dominguez that she knew nothing of the vehicle she was in. The officers then released the vehicle back to the registered owner. The passenger was released from the scene and the driver transported and booked accordingly for being in a stolen vehicle. Due to the Officers vigilance, a car thief is of the streets. Officers Seavey and Padilla responded to the area of 27th and Dolores on a call of an auto burglary. The caller/witness advised dispatch that he was following a subject who had already broke into two residential garages and was casing cars in the area. The caller gave dispatch the subject description and direction of travel. Moments later, Officers Carrasco and Dominguez arrived in the area and detained a subject matching the description given. The caller/witness observed the police when they arrived on scene and advised them that they had the correct subject detained. The caller/witness spoke with Officer Seavey and told him that he was parking his car in the area when he observed the subject enter the two garages located at 27th and Dolores. The caller decided to get out of his car and followed the subject on foot and called the police. The caller showed Officer Seavey the two garages that had been broken into. Officer Seavey attempted to contact the owner of one of the garages, but was unsuccessful. Officer Padilla then made contact with the owner of the second garage. The owner opened up her garage and saw that the trunk to her parked vehicle was open. Upon further inspection, she discovered that her new ear buds that she had just bought at TJ Maxx were missing. Officer Padilla then searched the subject’s backpack and found the stolen ear buds still encased in the original TJ Maxx container. Officer Padilla also found burglary tools used to pick locks inside the same backpack. The subject was subsequently arrested and booked on burglary charges. Without the help from this observant citizen, this suspect would have continued to burglarize the neighborhood. Great job to everyone involved. Report number 120768255
