Arrests:
9:15pm Alemany & Santa
Rosa Firearm
A vehicle traveling with one headlight extinguished caught the
attention of Ingleside Officers Burke and Anderson. The vehicle was traveling
northbound on Cayuga while the officers were driving the opposite direction.
Burke and Anderson made a U-turn and decided to stop the vehicle and warn the
driver of the equipment problem. The car was stopped at Santa Rosa and Alemany
and the officers quickly noticed the pungent smell of marijuana emanating from
the car. Inside was the driver and a passenger along with an open container of
marijuana. The officers asked both men to step out of the car and they
complied. Besides the marijuana, the officers also found something much more
dangerous; a loaded 9mm pistol underneath the driver’s seat. A computer check
revealed the driver was also a convicted violent felon who was on probation for
three years after serving a year in jail. He was arrested for illegal
possession of a firearm and for possessing a loaded firearm in a vehicle. The
suspect was transported to Ingleside Station for booking. His passenger was
released at the scene. Report number: 171045793
