Officers Hoge and Tupper received a call regarding a
fire. When they arrived, the SFFD was
already on scene and two fire personnel had detained a suspect. A witness told the officers that he was
walking through the park when he saw the suspect standing next to a fire that
was about two feet in height. The
witness called 911 to report the fire.
When the fire department arrived, a firefighter approached the suspect
and asked him to put out the fire. The
suspect refused. The firefighters
attempted to extinguish the fire and the suspect responded by throwing a steak
at them. The firefighters detained the
suspect until police arrived. The
suspect was arrested on arson charges.
